Hello everyone!  This is my first time posting.Hello everyone! This is my first time posting. My husband has Cystic Fibroses and will listed for a second double lung transplant tomorrow. Once we get the call we have to relocate for 3 to 4 months to UVA, about 2 hours from home. The hospital has 6 suite rooms in a hotel for transplant patients, but that is not a guarantee there will be a room for us, it is shared with every transplant team there. So my question. we have been fundraising and saving for this as we knew it was coming. I am looking for ideas on places to stay, what are some thoughts? We have looked at other hotels and some will give medical discounts but what other ideas am i missing? Its a college town and they have apartments but i havent really found any that will rent month to month. We can not atqy in a hospitality house due to his immune system. The plus is that my insurance will reimburse us up to 10k for lodging. Any ideas are welcome.

Maybe an air bnb? You could rent a room for a while? Or travel nurses have a service called “furnished finder” that is for longer periods of time. Maybe check that out since air bnbs night not be avalible for such a long time frame.

I am not sure if it is only available to travel nurses or not. But I’m sure anyone that you talk to would understand the situation.

Waynesboro is about 30 mins away from UVA, you might be able to find something there if that's not too far.

Is there a Ronald McDonald house in the area? Look into vrbo and Airbnb too. Also, call an extended stay hotel (suites hotel) and ask the General manager to negotiate a rate for the stay.

VRBO( Vacation Rentals By Owner) is much like Airbnb and we’re fans! Rented a furnished home for two months and it was a lifesaver. Best wishes for your husband and you!

Hi Heather. Curious to where you live at. We are also about 2 hours from UVA. Good luck with everything
