My husband and I never seam to be on the same page with the “price” of things. we’re doing some home renovations and he insists that a garage door will cost us thousands of dollars. I’ve asked around and was told somewhere in the 1000-1100 range for something basic. Does anyone have any idea as to the cost of these today?

You can get a garage door from a store like Home Depot for $600-$1000 if you know someone who can install it. Otherwise you should be able to purchase one installed by a professional for $1500 MAX

I find this happens a lot because my husband wants to spend the least amount of money on everything, regardless of functionality or quality. I on the other hand, want something durable, that will last a long time, so *usually* things I want are outrageously priced to him. So I would ask him what kind of garage door hes thinking about. And you find what your talking about so the two of you can compare and look at them side by side.

We had quotes from 3-7k depending on what type of door we wanted, the like thickness of it, insulated or not insulated. And I’d think the sizing (single double 2. 5+) would have some to do with it as well. We looked at some from like Home Depot and I wanna say Lowe’s but I wasn’t impressed with any of them. - just seemed really cheap and I wanted to get away from that. Since that was last summer lol I think we’ve decided to just power wash and repaint ours.

We got a new a garage door in 2018 in CA it was $800. 00. They saved the motor and parts that were still good and used them with the new door. No issues since.

It depends on the size and style of your door. We had a plain one with no windows installed on the single car garage on our old house before we sold it and it was around $1000.

It depends on what you want but this should help you get a realistic price

Get quotes from 2-3 people that install garage doors. Then show him the real cost.
