I browsed the saved questions so I apologize if this is a repeat question. Do you count cash savings/sinking funds in your monthly starting balance? And during the month if you add to sinking and savings do you count this as money spent?! I think I’m thinking too much about this and I’m confusing myself.

Yes I count it in the beginning of the month with my cash section

I don’t count any cash sinking funds/savings in my starting balance at the beginning of the month. Only what is left over in my checking account and cash envelopes. And yes, during the month I count any money I have deposited into my SF/savings accounts as money spent on my trackers.

Miko does when it’s time to use said sinking fund. I don’t intend to. I plan to just take the money and spend it after the maturity date has arrived.

This took me so long to figure out. I include what I am using. For instance i have an auto transfer set up for half of my monthly bill total every check (biweekly) so I include that as spending. Then whatever bills are actually being paid I include what I have saved for them via previous checks as income.
