Just me: once a week and $150 for the month, but I only spend about $25-30 a week

Before marriage (I’ve only been married a little over a year) I went shopping weekly. Somewhere between 50 and 150. just depended on what I had in my pantry and freezer. I did have a cat but I bought food for him once a month and often separate from my own food purchases.

I subscribe to hello fresh. Since it's just me it's 6 meals a week so I only buy breakfast and snack foods maybe twice a month. I usually budget $250 a month which includes $70 biweekly in my cash envelope for actual grocery store runs. I could spend less but the convenience is worth it to me

@erebus I wish they would show you the hello fresh meals before you buy! I’m such a picky eater.

Try dinnerly too! You get the same 6 meals a week for less than $40
by (9.6k points)
@rollins I know with dinnerly, at least, if you dont like the meals you can skip a week!
by (5.5k points)
@nitrate47 Can you PM a couple of their food options?
by (9.6k points)
@rollins sure!

@erebus I agree! I’m married, but we have been using Every Plate. $48 a week gives a total of 8 servings. He isn’t always home. so I either have a meal to cook for him, or leftovers for the next day. It’s really helped our budget and no food waste

I budget for $150 for the month and I shop weekly. I usually prep and cook two different meals that I will stretch through the week for lunches and dinners. Plus coffee, creamer, fruit and snacks. I don’t mind leftovers and I only eat out 2-3 times a month (unless it’s free! ) I am single with a dog, but his food is a separate budget item.

Also, this is where I am trying to cut! I am trying to use more of what I already have in my pantry or really stretch my meals. I’ve done pretty good considering I love to cook and try new recipes and have significantly cut back in that.

About $30/week. Get paid twice a month so $60/check, $120/month.

I spend $50-$100 per week, trying to get as much organic meat as possible and cheap organic veggies/fruits if on sale. I will buy stuff in sale to freeze for later which usually gets me closer to $100. And usually one treat per week. I usually only shop on Saturdays and very rarely eat out

@diehl67 this is exactly what I am wanting to do when I move.

I feel bad looking at y’all’s numbers ‍♀️ I budget $200 every 2 wks and that includes eating out. Most times I come in at or under budget. *Addendum - this budget also includes household items like toilet paper, detergent etc.

@dicentra269 I’m single (two cats but there stuff comes from a separate bucket) and I’ve been at $150 every two weeks (grocery and eating out) but actually thinking of upping it to $200.

I meal prep and budget about 100 - 120 every two weeks. I usually spend about 90-100 on average and come in under budget. so 200 ish a month.

I usually go when I feel like cooking. I’m not a big eater and I hate for food to go to waste.

200 a month. That includes my cat (no judging but I'm so lucky he likes Meow Mix and any scooping litter. He is healthy TG but he is getting older so I started a SFE for him) and my makeup and toiletries plus takeout twice a month. I use coupons(paper and digital) and I've become an expert at CVS. Btwn coupons, CRTs, and ECBs, I haven't paid for kitty litter, TP, paper towels toothpaste, deodorant, hair stuff and makeup in six months. ALL FREE!

$200 a month for groceries and eating out. I have a dog but I don’t factor that into my grocery budget.

Depends on where I lived. Montana, just me, it was $120/month. I ate a lot of pre-made and frozen foods. In Pennsylvania, I ate fresh food and it was $230/month

I have the luxury/blessing of being able to shop weekly sales and I always check clearance meats first. I have a pantry of staple items and freezer full of meat and meal prepped meals. To get to this point, about 200 per month. Now between 30-40 a week, depending upon whether I'm splurging on dining out or some special item I just have to have. Weekly shopping always includes fresh veggies and fruit

Weekly. My food/groceries/household budget is 300 from two paycheck. This includes occasionally eating out

$50 a week! I found that lets me be a little lenient with what I get and I’m not scouting for food.

I am married with 8 kids and can't wrap my head around how you meal plan/cook for one person.
by (270 points)
@geoff Ethridge I bet the single people can’t wrap their heads around 8 kids!
by (5.5k points)
@geoff Ethridge I would die.  It’s hard though! I always make too much food, which goes to waste.
