Alright TBM fam, I need some opinions. My husband is in his last se mester of law school (YAY) and we have been trying to keep our current phones (iphone 6s) until he graduates. They are over 4 years old but still going strong-ish. Well, today, sigh. I dropped mine and shattered the screen. It is still usable, but I'm a little nervous I'm going to get cut from it. So, looking at new phones (iphones, we don't want android) and I am trying to decide if we get an older version (like an 8) because it's more in line with what we can afford, but then likely have to replace it sooner since it's already old, or use more of our savings to get the newer phones with the hope they last us at least another 4 years. GAH. What would you do?

Can you just put a screen protector on?

I replaced my husbands screen myself for less than $40 in parts and tools from Amazon. He has an iphone 6s. It honestly was NOT difficult. I watched probably 3 different how to videos on youtube and we were good to go. The biggest thing is just keeping track of your screws that you took out because they are not all the same size, I recommend a piece of fat painters tape or packing tape taped to the table sticky side up to stick your screws on. Ive also replaced my MIL and FILs iphone batteries. So easy I was mad that a repair shop wanted over $100

They suggest taping over the outside of your screen if it is really shattered so it doesnt get glass bits all over or cut you
