The paste is mildly abrasive, so if you use it on anything glossy/shiny it can make a noticeable dull patch, or if you rub too hard, even scratch. That’s the only warning I’d give. Apart from that, yes it’s safe to use on paintwork. You’ll need to wipe afterwards with a damp cloth as the paste will dry to a powder if left on the paintwork.
