Start by keeping your dog clean. A smelly dog will make everything else dirty. Doggie cologne is quite good too.

He's get bathed regularly and sprays and things just don't want it so people can smell him when they walk in xxx

@reorientation what breed have you got? Some dogs can be bathed regularly, it all depends on the coat.

@reorientation it'll be the drool getting into anything fabric/porous.

I carpet shampoo my carpet once a month. It's the soft furnishings that hold the smell. I also have blankets on my sofas (yes my dogs go on the sofas, they're family) and we wash them and replace twice a week.

I have dogs and my friends have dogs and I've never smelt the dogs. Does the dog itself smell because it might be worth getting them checked over. I've got a dog and apart from her feet occasionally smelling like popcorn after a long walk she smells nice. She only smells bad when she's got something wrong with her skin. Maybe a pet safe air freshener and make sure beds clean. Can get safe essential oils as well can use in oil diffusers which make the house smell nice as well.

Wax melts are great, also if yoh bave a spray bottle put a capful of unstoppables in and fill with water let it disolve and then spray it over any fabrics, (setee, curtains, carpets and rugs) works a treat

Please do not use zoflora. People confuse that the "pet zoflora" is healthy to use around them when in actual fact its lethal. You can buy pet disinfectant that they use in places live vet surgery's and kennels. It is healthy and they can smell amazing. I use pet fresh which you can buy in a pack of 4 from amazon and will probably last you about a year.

@amygdalin25382 as with most products it’s safe to use just make sure it’s dry before you let your pet walk on it!
by (5.3k points)
@marlee I have kept my dog shut behind the kitchen stair gate while mopping with zoflora and all he has done is sneeze and cough. It really isn't good. The fumes are damaging for pets and humans.
by (1.9k points)
@amygdalin25382 I only use it as a spray, I’ve never done the whole floor with mop with it, I do use pet odour remover flash or simple solutions cleaners!
by (5.3k points)
@marlee my mop is a spray mop, its diluted the exactly same way. Honestly I used it on everything until I noticed how it was affecting him. Afterwards my grandma told me they stopped using it in hospital years ago for the same reason. Its honestly scarred me for life, I won't buy it again even for the little jobs lol.

@amygdalin25382 I don't like the smell of any of them

Not sure it is really possible. Love my dog, love the smell. You could start by only allowing Fido into specific areas of your home. And go for porcelain tiles, instead of carpet, etc. But like I say: it goes with the territory.
by (180 points)
@finedraw maybe a one way trip to the vets (shame you don’t feel the same about my kitten)

@escribe Ah, but Abbie: the world is not divided by male or female, or left and right, but rather by whether you are a cat person or a dog person. I am not being a hypocrite here, am I? Actually, I am a dog person. But I won't have one in the home because of the pong. And - in all seriousness - I would never advocate cruelty to a domestic pet.

My mate Bethany Jenks brought several cats to overpower the smell. She’s got 6 cats and a dog. Deffo can say I don’t smell dog anymore. Just cat litter
