Good morning moms!  I have been keeping an eye out but I don’t want to miss it.Good morning moms! I have been keeping an eye out but I don’t want to miss it. I signed my daughter up for summer camp at Camp Opeka but I don’t know if they are going to cancel it. Has anyone heard anything?

I signed my kids up as well, I emailed them several weeks ago and just got a response that they basically aren’t making any decisions until the governors decision coming up. They also update on the park district website on occasion when they have new info.

@choe thanks. It’s 3 weeks away and the councilor meet and greet is next week. I don’t want to get her excited if they cancel it.

I know i feel the same way. My kids love summer camp, but depending on what new changes/precautions they will be making to camps this year we may skip it. It’s such a crazy time right now. I hope it all works out for your little one!

@choe thank you, you too. I work at a hospital and my husband works at a company that ships PPE. This has not been easy. If they close it we have to figure all of this out again. But I’m still sick to my stomach about her going anywhere.

I totally understand! I feel terrible for those that don’t have any other options. I’ve been lucky my company is allowing me to work from home, I just don’t know for how long that will go on. It’s been stressful trying to figure it out during these times.

I just left a message yesterday to see what the status is. I would like a refund for the weeks I have already paid. I just don't feel comfortable sending her.

They should have emailed you just now. They are still holding it, with lots of restrictions. Refunds can be applied for.

@debussy thank you. I just saw it. We are talking about it. They can’t wear masks in the heat. And 2 warnings to social distance and they will be kicked out.

@vicereine My son is 6 and it’s just not going to be feasible for him. I already know it’s not going to work. I appreciate the effort they are making to accommodate those who need care for the summer. We’ll be arranging for a refund.

@vicereine we broke it to him over dinner tonight. Explaining what would be expected if he went and what fun things (like the pool, etc) would be removed from the camp he’s used to going to. He was okay with it. Just a bummer overall, but that’s 2020 for ya.

FYI, I faxed that form but Carolanne just emailed and said they got it and confirmed they are processing the refund.
