5 year old and no touching (two strikes your out! ) ummm! I’d get your money back! I’ve worked with so many kindergarten kids and there’s just no way! Especially after being MONTHS with no friends!

I would just get the refund. Can't really do much at the camp so what's the point of going?

@foresee they said no contact games and mostly outdoors

And to keep kids home during rain days

Which in Chicago is like every other day some summers

@substitute kids are going to want to interact. It's like setting them up to fail by doing this. And they most likely won't refund any of the money if a kid is kicked out for just doing what their instincts are.

@substitute it sounds like they want the money but not the kids

@mcclure Wasiłowski exactly! Or they haven't worked with kids enough to know any better

I think they will have the kid come back the next day but the guidelines are vague and I don't plan to pick her up because she wanted to hug a kid

I get why I do but I'm a teacher and i worked at a daycare and I'm pretty sure the counselors won't be able to control them I just don't know how strictly theyll adhear like if she takes her mask off on hot days when she gets annoyed

@foresee this agree completely

@substitute also how @paten stated, it can just be really stressful for the kids and eventually the parents if they get constant calls to pick up their kid.

I would only send my kids if I had to work and had no other choice. I don’t think any camps are going to be super fun this year considering pools and playgrounds are going to still be closed. I’m sure they will do their best to make it fun while distancing the kids but it does sound stressful.

Hmmm no. Get your money back. This is ridiculous. I have three girls 5 and under and open for playdates outside. Pm if interested. It is so important for kids to play together and have fun with friends. I actually think at this age free play is better than camp/school.

We got the same notice. We will be cancelling because it sounds like no fun! We also have a 5 yo and I’m sure he won’t stick to those guidelines.

I already asked about getting my money back. All of this AND wear a mask all day. Plus on rainy days we should keep them home to avoid more kids in a smaller place. I can’t base my child care on weather. My husband and I both are required to work. We are all heart broken.

I think they are just covering their bases. Everyone is doing their best, but I am prob getting the refund for this year. Their outings are going for walks? We do that from home. They need to come up with better ideas esp if the kids are not supposed to have close contact. It adds extra pressure to come up with an amazing curriculum that I do not think they are prepared for.

@katz259 I’m sure they will do games and a tooth at don’t require touching. Maybe freeze dance, scavenger hunts, I spy, hopefully their walks will include educational stuff. I’m sure they have some type of plan to keep the kids engaged.

@katz259 I should also add that I believe they changed the name to camp “care” because it should really be used for families who really need to send their kids, not just for something fun for kids to do over the summer. I think it’s going to be hard at first for the kids and the camp counselors but I’m sure they will adjust. I think it’s wonderful news for parents who have to work and don’t have another option for care.

I am also freaking out about all of these rules- not sure if my 5 yo can make it when it’s only 2 warnings. This was the preferred option over daycare because they will be on top of each other all day in smaller spaces. ‍♀️ agree this seems like a waste of $$. @bilyeu
