Has anyone who has a house built on a slab-no basement-replaced their boiler with a furnace? I need to replace my HVAC system & currently have a boiler but I’m thinking of converting to a furnace. Any opinions on which system heats better?

I would never give up my boiler in the winter, so cozy and warm. That said we put a furnace in the attic for the second floor when we added on. Boiler for first floor furnace for second floor, ac in the summer.

I'd go with HVAC, especially if AC is a consideration. Hot Water heat also makes it pretty dry in the house in the winter, something a humidifier on the HVAC system can overcome

@republicanize73 that's actually false. Boilers do not remove humidity but they also dont add it as much either. Putting a forced air system in WILL remove humidity which then requires you to put in a humidifier.

@shaughnessy stop by my house next winter, heat created by radiators removes moisture from the air, many old homes have evaporation pans on the top of the radiators to offset the loss of moisture

@republicanize73 old cast iron radiators yes. Not baseboard heat.

I highly recommend BRC on Oakton Street in Des Plaines for an opinion. Ask for Bob Berger
