Hi all!  We’re about to close on a house on 5/1.Hi all! We’re about to close on a house on 5/1. Our daughter’s 5th birthday is 5/2. We’ve driven past the house and she’s very excited. We’re trying to do something really special for her quarantine birthday. We’re planning on taking her to the house with a cake and balloons on her birthday to tell her it’s ours but we’re thinking if there was any way to plan a special drive-by, it would be fun. I’ve seen where local Police departments will do something but with everything going on don’t want to bother them. Does anyone have thoughts or insights? Thanks in advance!

The PD posted a video saying they would not be taking those kind of requests. I’d be happy to join in a car parade if you can get others to join in!

Des Plaines police is not doing those at this time. I’m sure some in this group would help out. Let me know if there’s anything I can do to help make your kiddo have a great day.

Des plaines pd will not do this. they released a statement to this effect a few days ago. I believe it also includes the FD, also.

Like @maldives934 mentioned above, join Moms of Des Plaines group. I had a pleasure of being a part of a car parade, with horns and balloons, couple days ago.

Mom asked on a group - kid's bday, we're planning a car parade, meet here and there at that time. The actual address was sent to me in a pm. It was very easy and awesome.

You could buy or make a large paper banner that could extend across a long part of the front of the house that could read: Welcome Home _ _ _ _ (whatever her name is). I once did this to welcome my son-in-law who was driving a u-haul of furniture from Minnesota to a small house that he had never been to (on Warrington). The sign read: Welcome Home Dr. John. He was coming to Des Plaines to join his wife and two sons. His internship was in Minnesota. At that time (long time ago), I got it from Alphagraphics. Or maybe you could make it yourself.
