Is The Great Escape the only company around that installs above ground pools in DP? We called and they wouldn't be able to install until end of July and don't really want to wait that long with Mystic not opening and probably not the others either.

I think the city leaves you alone unless it’s an permanent above ground pool. We’ve had the intex that was 48 inches deep. city drove by our house all the time and saw it and never did anything.

No- we had an Intex. city caught it and we had a time frame it needed to be taken down. It happened to one of our neighbors too.

that stinks. I’m not getting a permit for an intex pool that I’ll be taking down in 3 months. I have a fence. It’s not 6 ft tall. I won’t build a fence for Des Plaines for a 3 month pool.

We got caught on summer #3 with a temporary pool on the driveway. We got a scary letter, but it was no biggie to get the permit. It was def more money than what I wanted to spend though!

our fence is def not 6 ft high. I think they’re more lenient with those guidelines if it’s a temporary pool

Unfortunately it’s going to be like that every where. even if there wasn’t a pandemic they were always so busy during the summer

I would think this is most likely going to be the case. Keep in mind the pool permit from City of DP could take some time also.

Didn't even think about the permit. You really need a permit? What about for the big ones from like Walmart?

unfortunately, yes. Anything over 24” deep. I know a lot of people probably haven’t actually gotten a permit that have a larger pool. But that’s at your own risk, I guess.
