What’s everyone doing for their little one’s classroom Valentine’s? No candy, no balloons. I have a few ideas but I’d like to compare and see if they’re good enough, because for some reason, that this is extremely important. ‍♀️

Cups and mini ping pong paddles from $ store, fruit snacks, gummy bears, Hershey kisses and Rice Krispie treat (mini valentine ones). Our class is age 4-5, ping pong wouldn’t work for any younger

Holy cow I am glad that I’m homeschooling. And that is TOTALLY not a dig at anyone that is an admittance of my own laziness that I wouldn’t want to have to go through all that trouble . What happened to the cheap valentines from the grocery store that were on perforated cardboard that you cut out, folded over and sealed with a sticker and MAYYYYBE if you were super ambitious you stuck a candy heart on it. Happy crafting everyone

@allusion we still do the store bought, pull-apart, fold over sign your name kind

We still do the cheap ones, my boys could care less!

@viquelia good for you! I totally would too

We do the store bought paper valentines. Each kids signs their name and sticks it in the paper envelope it came with. Most of the trinkets my kids come home with from holiday parties and birthdays end ups right in the garbage. To me it's such a waste. My kids are just as excited to receive a piece of paper with their name on it.

@allusion I couldn't relate more to your post! I thought about homeschooling but I have no clue how and where to get started.

I went to Walgreens the other day and saw Valentine's that had a paper air plane with it. Wish I would have bought them, my daughter had already chose Fun Dip ‍♀️

Cheap scratch and sniff cards and puffs organic treat for toddlers since it was requested by the daycare the gifts & candy be age appropriate and limited since not all parents give candy to their toddlers yet. Plus they don’t want choking hazards

I got scratch off bookmarks, they're little animals and the kids scratch off to make the hair/fur.

I’m too late for this, but for next time. kids get excited with simplest things, no matter what they are. for like 5 minutes. Having said this, don’t spend your money in useless plastic toys that will end up in the garbage immediately. Some don’t even make it home. Affordable options: healthier edibles (jello, crackers, pirates booty, veggie chips). Stickers, or my favorite: Tatoos. If you want to spend more: color books, crayons, color pencils. You get the idea. One of my student gave seeds this year, and they were so excited to plant them in their homes.

Other class moms and I agreed to save our money bc I do not want any more dollar store crap in the house. It all gets thrown away. How many pencils can one house have?!? Bring back the treats! Lol!
