Hi mom’s I received a summons for Jury duty for the end of March. I am a stay at home mom and do not have child care options nor can I afford it. Is there any way to get out of it? Has anyone run into this issue before?

Is your child young enough to still be a nursing child? You can always use that law that all breastfeeding mothers will be exempt. I used that. just wrote a letter

@reverent No, but I did use that reason when I was breastfeeding my twins. That was a year ago they just turned 2. They wasted no time sending me another summons

Usually you can call and let them know that and they won’t make you come. Also if you’re breastfeeding it gets you out of it so just say that.

New moms can get excused I believe until the child is 5. I would call and explain your situation.

Great thank you all! I have 3 children ages 3 and under. I’m not still breastfeeding unfortunately but I will call the number on the sheet. Thanks again! ❤️

I tried child care, independent provider for work, and breastfeeding, and had to argue pretty hard with the judge to get out of it since I had to go down there for it.

Yes, I was able to write a letter explaining that exact same situation and did not need to report as a result. It’s definitely worth it to try.

I wrote a letter just like @reverent Sewell and got out of duty too.
