Hi!  Thought this is the best place I could come for some pearls of wisdom.Hi! Thought this is the best place I could come for some pearls of wisdom. For the last 16 years I've had a job where I'm constantly washing my hands. 4ish years ago I received the gift of what everyone called Zombie fingers. It only was on my right hand and two fingers. Since I didn't have insurance then, The Googles said it was a form of eczema. It flared up once and went away. Fast forward to present day. I've always constantly washed my hands, but now I'm doing it even more. My hands are cracked, they're dry, the eczema has spread to both hands and it really hurts/itches today. That's why I'm here. Anyone have any miracle cures? For the love of God please no MLM witchcraft. I've tried every lotion, Aquaphor, lathering my hands up like a Thanksgiving turkey and then putting gloves or socks. I'm not going to my doctor right now, for this. Any help before I gnaw off my fingers would be very much appreciated.

Try vasalene jelly?

And then wrap your hans in plastic gloves or bags and then gloves. However, you will probably need a script and can to a tele-visit.

Zyrtec helps with itching
by (12.3k points)
@fullrigged that's allergy pill, correct?
by (1.1k points)
@jawbreaker31 yes - over the counter. Helps tremendously with itching. I've tried a few different prescription creams etc for my hand and foot and this is the only thing that gives me relief for more than 5 minutes when I have a flare up.

I am with you. I’ve had good results with Ahava hand creams. When I flare up, I put a thin layer of cortisone cream on first, then the hand cream. It definitely takes a few days to get better.

@ha15 I will add that to my list, thank you! I've done the cortisone first but never even heard of that lotion. Thank you!

@jawbreaker31 kiehl has a good one, too. If you crave a thicker lotion, try this one

I have severe eczema on my hands, and I use Eucerin Baby Eczema lotion (of course if you haven’t tried it already), but that’s seemed to help the most right now.

@blow495 I love that stuff for my knees. I use it on the 12 year old also.

Not sure I've seen the lotion. I'll have to try it, thank you.

We use First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Cream. Hydrocortisone to bring down the flare but only for a few days. Down the line you could get a prescription steroid which I have for when mine gets bad.

I use Eucerin baby eczema cream after washing during the day and Vaseline at night. If I skip days it comes back, so even when it’s not flared up keep up your routine.

I have extreme eczema on my hands. It's worse now with the constant hand washing. I was prescribed impoyz and eucrisa. It works, but my daughter's eczema ointment works best and she has tacrolimus ointment 0. 03%. I know that these are prescriptions, but they work. I had tried EVERYTHING for my hands and nothing worked.

I have eczema on my arms and back that I treat with prescription medication. With the significant increase in hand washing and sanitizer, it had now shown up on my hands and doesn't respond well to the RX medication (I wonder if its because I wash it off so soon, with the next hand washing! ). O'keefe's working hands, however, had helped immensely. It especially helps if I really slather it on before bed and wear gloves. I've included a link below (is also available on amazon and target/ Wal-Mart/lots of grocery stores and pharmacies). I hope this or one of the other suggestions here helps you out! .

@consumedly @jawbreaker31 this is what I use too! I was diagnosed with hand eczema a few years ago which gives me deep cracks on my fingertips and knuckles as well as very red, rough hands. Every prescription did nothing. One dermatologist even told me I don’t have to wash my hands after using the restroom since they aren’t really “dirty”!  This stuff heals my cracks and redness like nobody’s business and I love that it’s easy to find. I usually get it at target.

Don’t know if you’ve tried this but it works for me.

Eucerin original cream (not lotion). It’s thick, and annoying to put on, but if you keep it up, it’s worth it.

I know this is going to sound insane but since I’ve become a mom I’ve learned insane is what I know best at remedies. Aquaphor like the diaper rash ointment, I feel like it’s helped a TON since i learned about it.

I get blistering eczema on my hands and regular eczema only on my hands that look like burns. The two things I use that helps besides a steroid is cerave healing ointment and aveeno cica hand mask.

My son licks his lips. We tried everything Aquaphor worked best but still not good enough. We finally tried a product called The Healer Stick by Perfectly Posh. It was a miracle. It has Shea butter, vanilla and orange oil and other fab ingredients. We keep several on hand now for the past couple of years. We also use on his eczema spots. I recently used on my own dry, cracked and bleeding hands overnight with socks on my hands. By morning, my hands felt great! I can pm you the info to order from the girl I use if you want

I get small patches of that in between my fingers. It drives me crazy. It hurts and itches and washing your hands makes it worse. when the usual things don’t work enough like eczema cream and Aquaphor I use CBD oil. It really progresses the healing process of your skin is cracked. Then later I put Aquaphor on it so that it protects when my hands get wet.

This saved my hands. It took probably about a week to see results aND initially I applied after each hand wash. Now I use several times a day. Also use gloves (kitchen gloves#! ) whenever you can while doing dishes etc. P. s. eczema is autoimmune or can be, you may also figure out something in your diet may make it worse, try a day or two without milk for instance, or anything else you may be using daily in your diet and see if there is difference in flare ups. Good luck.

Our hairdresser gets eczema and noticed my son’s super dry, cracked hands. She recommended A&D ointment on the hands at bedtime covered with socks or cotton gloves. It has helped so much.
