Any frontline workers in this group who have small kids? What do you do when you get home? Do you isolate/self quarantine, or do you just take a bath and sanitize everything?

My child has been sent to live w my mom. My husband and I are both nurses. We both have Lysol in our cars which we use to wipe down the steering wheel/anything we touch. We strip down in the garage before entering the house. Lysol keys/glasses/phone and door handle. Straight to shower. All work laundry stay in the garage in a washable hamper and gets thrown in the washer. At work I keep my phone in a ziplock for additional protection. And we are sleeping in separate rooms/using separate bathrooms. Not staying on the same floor. We don’t want to infect each other, and I am newly pregnant.

I strip in my garage and leave everything in a bag there. Then I get right in the shower and get it as hot as possible and scrub everything. Nothing comes in the house.

My husband works at a hospital. He leaves his work shoes in his car, puts his clothes right into the wash, and showers immediately. Also wipes down the door knobs etc that he touches when coming into the house.

Same as above. I strip in the garage my husband and I leave our clothes out there in a bin. All of my work stuff name tag pens masks etc stay in a box in a box in a box in my trunk along with my shoes. The children are not allowed in the garage or near my trunk. I go directly in the house and shower. And then wipe off everything I touched along the way. I don't kiss them which is super hard. But I let them kiss me and I still hug them. I also sanitize all the door knobs and light switches regardless of what we've touched once or twice a week. Plus generally clean everything all day everyday ‍♀️

No contact. Straight in the showers which is upstairs for us. No shoes inside the house. We do change shoes at work anyways. Unfortunately my garage is detached. We do change before leaving work and take the work clothes in the bag.

My husband goes directly to the shower when he gets home, before doing absolutely anything else; his shoes and coat do not come in the house. We have put a pack of Lysol wipes in his car to wipe down his phone, shoes, glasses, and anything else that may have gone into and out of work with him as soon as he gets in the car. What can be washed with bleach is, and everything else is being washed on hot regardless of color, and with white vinegar added.

Thank you, ladies, for responding! Considering going back to hospital work on weekends and weighing all pros and cons before I commit. My sister is my only family (outside of my home) and she and her husband are nurses, too, so I won’t have any place else if a situation eventually requires me to isolate. Stay safe and thanks for all you do!

I change at work, leave my work shoes at work. The shoes I wear to work I leave in the garage. I use hand sanitizer right before I leave the building so that I can rub it in after touching the exit door (I’ve been doing that the 12 years I’ve worked at the hospital though. Lol. Hospitals are gross, even before the pandemic). When I get home I throw my clothes straight into the washing machine, and get in the shower. My kids know they aren’t allowed to touch mommy until after she showers.

My husband goes from the garage to the laundry room and puts everything in the washer, goes upstairs, showers and then greets us.
