If laid off you can get up to 6 months unemployment. I did that last time while I looked. Last time I was out of work only 2 weeks.

@traitorous the closest office is in Arlington Heights if you need to go in person. They have excellent resources there for job searching including computer use, free printer use. You can file online too but I felt in person helped me do everything correctly first time.
