For those mamas whose babies WALKED LATE, any advice? My lo has taken a few steps @ 17mo but still prefers crawling/walking along walls/furniture.

Patience. My son walked a few days shy of his 18 month checkup (cookie used as a bribe :) ), but was talking extremely early. Each child is different. When you go to the next doctor visit - be sure to discuss what your child is doing and what he/she isn't - your doctor will be able to guide you to next steps. For now, continue to encourage and act REALLY excited for every little progress forward.

My daughter was 19 months. We knew she could do it, just was stubborn. She liked stacking blocks, so we would build it then hand her another but put her a few steps away from it. She wanted the tower built enough that she’d walk to it, so we’d go a little farther back every time. Next thing we knew she was running!

Dylan started walking at 18 months and now he’s running all over the house! Our pediatrician assured me it’s totally normal for some kids to start walking at 18 months. Only advice is to be patient.

Both my girls didn’t start walking until 18 months also. The oldest one didn’t crawl either until 15 -16 months. I know it’s hard, but be patient. It seems like your LO is getting there.

My girl was 21 months before she walked. But she knee walked for almost a year! Patience as others have said. They do it in their own good time!

My first walked at 18 mos. And still preferred to crawl in public, which was a tad mortifying for me as a new mom!  She's totally fine now, ice skates, etc., just has a very cautious and precise personality.
