With the risk of asking a stupid question: i just visited a website that rents out bungalow tents on different campsites. We rented one of their tents last Year, so i wanted to see what they offer this year. I Googled their name and clicked on their website. Looked around and left. Didn’t look at other websites of on Facebook. 30 min later I open Facebook and get a bunch of ads from OTHER similar websites (all rent a tent kind of placets). How does this work? Is it because I googled the name and Google somehow passes this info to Facebook? Or does the pixel of the website I visited register me, both for retargetting purposes for the company I visited and Maybe also just put me in the general interest group “holiday” and “camping”. So does Facebook use a pixel on a website to also collect info to fill their Own interest groups? This is the only reason I can think of why competitors of the company I visited target me within 30 min after visiting the website. Does anybody know?

You’ve nailed it completely. They use your info and mark you as interested in that product, as well as put you in the pool of people visiting that site and the interests associated with them, and you’re likely showing up in LLA audiences that the other companies have running. You know, on any ad you can actually click the 3 buttons and press ‘why am I seeing this ad? ’. It will show you if they uploaded your email, or if you’re on a LLA or if they’re targeting ‘camping’ for example. All the best!
