Because you're just some random ad on fb. You're not a known brand, such as amazon, where I will go search for similar products. This is why branding is very important. Make it hard for them to find competitors.

Price, brand, shipping cost, product’s country of origin, lack of sale or discount, negative product reviews, time of day (might not whip out a credit card at work), etc.

If you sell product x and I want to buy product x, I will look at price, shipping, then also see if there are discounts available or if I can get it cheaper elsewhere. If your site is the best, then I might need more time for $$$. This is also assuming I know what size fits or which type of your product I want. If I don't, then I might try to find it in a store first.

@ja701 lets say you've found a brand that sells bracelets. You like the bracelet and decide to add it to your cart. Then you proceed to the checkout page and see the shipping fee. What would be an acceptable upper ceiling for you regarding shipping cost for a bracelet ?
by (530 points)
@punch if above $50 I prefer free shipping. Under $50 I'd say $7 is fair

NOT RIGHT NOW>We are not on Facebook to buy stuff! In addition, understanding user behavior, consumers are also less trusting. Before, if you were one of the top brands or even if you were a less established up-and-comer you could sell a lot very easily. Now, people don’t trust anybody because they’ve been duped. Add to that Facebook’s own issues with Cambridge Analytica, and the trust factor has gone way down. Consumer behavior has also changed. If we rewind 5–7 years, an average consumer needed up to 16 touchpoints before making a buying decision. Those same studies are saying that a consumer now needs up to 33 touchpoints before making a buying decision. Rather than trying to get them to pull the trigger right away and purchase something, how do we get them to say yes to something small to gain their trust, provide value, and earn the right even to ask for a transaction?

@deuno it's never about trust. It's about appeal. I always say to my clients that creative should create desire. Not every impression can be a purchase but every impression should have sale potential.

Consume phase can last anywhere from 1 hour up to 2 years. There is a consumer study says 50% of the people who inquire about a product end up buying that product within 2 years. Imagine that if 100 couples go to a store to look at a dishwasher, 50 of those couples will actually end up buying a dishwasher 2 years. It doesn’t mean they’ll buy it from the original source (your store) they inquired from, but it means they’ll buy that very thing. Of that 50% who end up buying the thing, 15% of the 50% end up transacting anywhere between day 0 and day 90, and 85% transacting between day 91 and 2 years. The issue here is most people are abandoned by marketers by day 8. Marketers think that if a customer didn’t convert in their amateur 4-day funnel, it must be a dead lead. But the fact is that they haven’t even gotten started. Here is the thing! How much is being left on the table by amateur marketers who’ve abandoned “dead leads” who are now just buying from competitors? It’s not that they never would have bought, they’re just buying from someone else because they've given up on them. 2020 is thinking much longer-term. In the consumer purchase phase, people can buy within an hour but many other people will buy-in up to 2 years. Anything over 2 years may be a dead lead. How long have you been in researching a major league product world before you made this buying decision? On average, it’s 1-2 years.

Because I found it on Amazon cheaper and faster and if I don't like it I can return it with no issues

Because I wasn’t in a buying mindset and you randomly came into my feed. I’m looking at my phone for 30 seconds in between doing everything else in my life. I tell myself I’ll look at it later. But I don’t. I forget. And when I remember, I don’t want to search for your ad. I need it right away. So I go to amazon and buy the closest thing on there.

No brand, no social proof, difficult buying experience, price, shipping times. there’s a lot objections to overcome despite someone wanting a product

It didn't appeal to the target audiences emotions to buy at that moment.

Coz I have lesser brand affinity. People buy out of emotions. Straight up conversation based ads won't work. That's why you need a funnel design for campaigns too.  Start by introducing your brand, filter audience  Talk about the problem the product solves, filter audience  Talk about your product, #conversionAd  Discount promo #conversionAd It can be broken down further based on your margins, budget. Get creative

@gainly not quite infinite but definitely enough to make this a pointless question. Although to be fair there are some good answers in here

I didn’t do an effective job of capturing your attention and illustrating how what I sell is what you want/need, at a price that makes sense with an offer compelling enough to create action.

I think this is a legit question. Reason 1: Lack of trust Reason 2: You're selling the product not the solution Reason 3: You're selling the product not the emotion

Wrong timing, no trust, bad delivery of ad, confusing ad, no money, need more convincing even though I want to buy. Lots of reasons

I was advertised cool jumper which I loved and was willing to buy on a spot. But website looked dodgy and similar to a dropshipping. So looked around and found bad reviews about the website and found the same product on Ali express where I bought it and 1 week after received the same product. Quality was shit obviously but at least paid less and received it.

Can be personal reasons, budget, too many ads, or too little, I found cheaper option also. I think these might be possible. But for me personally, I would go with retargeting and reminders in different days, escalating how I can benefit from the product within 2 months maximum, because you never know when the person gets salary haha :D

I don't perceive your brand as the best option of product X or the price point is not competitive
by (1.3k points)
@selwyn Lamborghini are not competitive
by (1.2k points)
@tude1505 luxury products are almost the opposite the more expensive the better in that niche, premium price seekers have a different mentality and mindset. More vanity driven
by (1.2k points)
@tude1505 it's a status symbol and still much cheaper than a McLaren for example. It is all relevant
