Depends what you want to achieve. Dont make decision based on cost alone. Look for experience, experience in your sector, years of experience, trustworthy, approach, do they innovate, what are they recommending, can anyone refer a recommended agency etc

Red Flags: 1. Too much emphasis on platform tactics. 2. No creative support 3. Poor business acumen 4. Promising performance upfront 5. Lack of references 6. Lack of strategy 7. Throwing around way too many buzzwords 8. Does not have a presentable web presence (a functional website / facebook page) 9. Owner's profile photo includes a mansion and a lambo

Let me also add. if the retainer/cost is too low.

@deodar thanks! what's standard charging practice? I've been offered % of ad spend (obviously with a minimum in place)

@shenashenan that’s fairly common. Ive seen people move to a fixed retainer as well.

1. 17 years old owner 2. No portfolio 3. Have case-studies but can’t show the ads manager on screen share 4. No employees 5. No online presence or very poor online presence (look at their website and when it’s built) 6. Look at LinkedIn and find potential employees via search. If they don’t exist that’s probably one of those new age ’entrepreneurs’ bulshit with no real team and real results trying to position themselves as an ”agency owners” while hiring junior media buyers with no experience to work for them. If that’s the case you better look for a freelancer.
