You can buy a vacuum for the bottom of the pool

@backspin79 is that the only way? I was hoping for a cheaper solution? If not any that you can recommend?
by (1.7k points)
@andrew I’m not sure where you live but when we had above ground pool we got ours from Walmart wasn’t expensive maybe $40 but have a look on amazon not mega expensive and good investment as if u don’t have a cover you will get a lot of stuff in it

Very cheap solution. Siphon it with a piece of hose pipe x

I used this for my 10ft pool. you attach a hose to the end of the pole and the water from the hose pushes the debris at the bottom of the pool into the bag. empty the bag and the bottom of your pool is clean  you have to move the pope slowly though otherwise you’ll just push the dirt around instead of hoover it up x

Looks brilliant. Did you sit it on top of stones or slabs?
by (350 points)
@featurelength833 we layed a dusting of concrete on prepared ground then ground sheet, then lots of sand, then pool mat then pool on top. We had a big issue with moles last year. The stones are round the edge only for decor

A bit out of context, but I'm building my own small pool, I'm wondering how these pool filters work? Would I be able to put both hoses simply into the pool from above? As I'll try keep liner intact and want to avoid cutting holes for the pipes.
by (1.1k points)
@crouse85 good question. Wondering this myself.
by (220 points)
@crouse85 you buy them for the amount of gallons of water in pool. usually the best way ones say this filter is for 8ft-12ft pool x amount of gallons if that helps
by (340 points)
@crouse85 if you’re doing full diy then yes sure you would rig it that way. Always buy the best filter you can. It’s like fish keeping, a £25 exact ltr filter will work but the £45 double/triple the ltr required will keep it better.

We use the pool hoover type thingy , also have a bucket of warm water next to the pool for them to put their feet in before going in, . This year everything is fake for us so won’t need that  chlorine tabs in the filter and you can get like a floating one too , I love our pool but it is a pain keeping them clean like !

I attach a standard vacuum hose (from a wet/dry machine) to the filter pump inlet. You then just hoover the pool.

Vacuum daily until it's gone. ANYTHING in the pool, alge will attach to and breed. Backwash at least once a week. Look into "trouble free pools". It's kinda overwhelming at first, then it all makes sense. You basically use 4 chemicals bleach, baking soda, muriatic acid, and borax.

Put a bucket/or washing up bowl of water next to the steps and dip both feet in the bucket before getting in the pool

Dont worry about the dust. give it a day . it will look like it's a lawn after the kids have been in and out a few times. try putting a foot bath by the pool

Little bucket attached for feet on bottom of steps, pool hoover, pool cover. I’d also upgrade the filter if you’ve got the cash. They are only ever running minimal ltr per hour. Plus don’t forget chemicals for treatment if you want it up for along time with minimal emptying.

@boff70 good tip

Like above says upgrade the filter and I use a off cut of hose and suck out the crap on the bottom.
