Depending on who's fence it it. If yours paint it. Then say you have more paint if they want to paint there side.  If it is there fence then you have to ask them.

Just do it. then pop the paint tin over the fence to give your neighbour something to do

@coinsurance good idea.

The gap (approx 1 inch) is for wind to flow through, if you had the boards butted up together the wind would blow it down.

@biamonte yeah when we moved in we asked if they wanted to split, they didnt so we got it sorted ourselves. wouldn't feel so bad if it wasnt for the fact they've just painted theirs last week

@iou3  Oh well yours to paint then. Just ask if you can go in their side to paint it, or give them the paint to do it haha

You have the finished side so its effectively your fence so you can paint the sides of the boards

Ask your neighbours if they fancy painting theirs the same colour. Problem solved.

@hatfield they just painted theirs last week which is part of the problem

@iou3 Did they ask you if they could paint their side of your fence? If not then sod them, just paint your side, if it makes a mess their side don’t worry, as they should have got permission from you to paint your fence.

I’d just paint it if it’s your fence, I wouldn’t be bothered at all

Paint the sides it’s your fence and on your side. I would if I had paid for it and was doing it.
