Question

Tried some masking tape on my steps, randomly placed and used concrete grey masonry paint. Yes or no?

Interesting idea. I think it could be improved a little though - paint all the steps that same colour (pale grey), when dry apply the masking tape as you have done and paint over with a darker colour. The pale grey will look intentional as the geometric lines and will look better than the mottled concrete/stone showing through as the lines :)

I like it. I’d paint it all the gray and then re tape it and do a darker grey over it so the lines are light grey. It only looks unfinished because the lines aren’t painted but the ideas great and different x

I like this as it is. It's different, if you like it keep it everyone's taste is different. It's only paint so if get bored can do it again different colour. Maybe a bright colour lol lol

Nope from me I thought they still had tape on. If they were my steps I'd just paint them white then the sides in black. But they're your steps so if you like them jow they are that's all that matters x

I think it's very striking and I don't mind it. I think it would be improved with the lines painted white, just to make it look finished. Also, the side walls might benefit from a pressure wash or some tarting up to go with the steps.

I would also paint the vertical part black the lines created black and the walls at the side black then finish it off with some ornimental bright green shrubs by the door to make it pop

I have just painted my stones at front. They were dirty grey before . I think I'd have gone for one block colour it's a little busy on the eye for me but everyone is different so. Just be you !

It looks great now but maybe after a few showers could get messy, as @pyrophyllite said use it as a stencil for more contrasting colours .

I think it would look amazing if you paint the gaps(from masking tape) and the walls either side the same colour but I like that it’s different cx

But I love the rustic bricks at the bottom on the walls so I would leave that as it is  Also I would paint the woodwork on the door the same as the wall colour I think it would be a real statement xx

Take the masking tape off and paint the gap gold and then put a sealant over it because the masking tape is not waterproof or weather approved or is it hard wearing so it will be off that in a bout a months time

@exchange48 it's only there while you paint it. Then when you take it off, it leaves geometric shapes.

Whatever you love is what matters, its your home. Personally I would have used white in-between the grey (where the tape was) so it stands out better xxx
