Just took my decking up hoping to replace with slabs. Decking biggest mistake slippy messy everything about it was a mistake

@foretopmast746 That’s what I was worried about it being slippy
by (1.1k points)
@seismic7906 was awful. My granddaughter went over on it and I did several times and that was one winter. Don't have decking terrible stuff.

@foretopmast746 decking is perfectly fine if it’s treated properly. Use proper decking paint and it’ll be non slip and mould resistant. I’m a chippy so opted for high quality decking instead of a patio as I know how to work with wood more than anything else. As long as the frame is secure and sturdy and it’s looked after and maintained properly, decking is great.

@mchenry851 do we all have time to maintain? To be honest no. And I did try and maintain made no difference once wet little mud from gardening dog. And if you have a dog it's going to get mud in it! Game over.

@foretopmast746 I have 2 dogs, my decking is directly outside my back door. I’m just saying, it’s been down 2 years now and every spring I jetwash the entire area, then repaint in proper decking paint. It’s grey and non-slippery. Unless it’s left to grow mould on it or it’s upside down, I can’t see how it would get slippery.
