Mines been growing 12 yrs and usually bushy and loads of lovely Cerise flowers. not doing aswell this year and the flowers are a few week early with crinkled petals. been a much warmer April and need a lit of water. I'm now watering it and put some feed on. It looks to be picking up. Cats weeinv on them and they lovecthem can kill new ones., I put pebbles around the base when it was new. Good luck.

They apparently need loads of water (Monty Don said on gardeners world) also they have roots near the surface, so it can be helpful to cover the base with stones to stop the roots from getting too hot. I'm very new to gardening, they had info on this week's gardeners world on how to care for them x

Is it in a pot? I don’t think they like their roots in the sun. Tend to grow best in a large planter so the soil stays damp or in the ground well watered

Clematis wilt. They like 'cold feet' i. e cover soil with loose stones/pebbles.

All but one of my clematis, not doing well at all this year! I will cut them all down, and maybe next year they will come stronger.

Yes, they like cool roots. As @hoskinson995 says, cover soil with stones. But even if it dies right off, do not discard- they may come back next year.
