Wanting to light my chimnea on my newly varnished patio but worried it will get ruined with the heat. Has anyone put anything underneath theirs and if so can I see yours please? Thanks  *** EDIT, I will be moving it away from the fence, just looking for ideas of what to put underneath it.

I have one of these and so long as you don’t overload it, it will be fine

I would move away from the wooden fence

It may lift the varnish. can you put a slab where the chimenea is? I’d personally be more worried about setting the fence on fire with it being that close.

@noetic yes I'm planning on moving it away from the fence. I don't have any spare slabs though

You can get bases for chimineas that the hot ashes will fall on just measure around the bottom so you know what size you will need x

Heat rises. It won't get that hot there. I'd move it away frkm the fence a little.

I have the very large cast iron chimenea and mine is on Yorkshire stone and never any mess or anything beneath it

I had one like that a few years ago. The legs don't get hot enough to cause any damage, that was the bit I used to move it when it was too close to something that would burn
