I have two one white, one dark purple. The bees and butterflies love it. I've just had a different one delivered today which has bright orange ball shaped flower heads.

Globosa, lovely plant. Early spring food for bees and butterflies.

@xavierxaviera6778 Sounds interesting. Will it still attract the butterflies and bees?
by (2.8k points)
@roman21 Hoping to get it in the ground in next couple of days. Its arrived packaged very well in it's own little pot too.

@lei12688 @katykatya7 Jackson I'm sure it will. Got it from a plant nursery who had an Ebay shop.

It flowers a lot earlier than other buddleia. But unlike others they need pruning after flowering as they flower on the previous years growth.

@roman21 thank you for that advice I didnt realise that.

I made the mistake one year when I had a few different varieties in pots together and pruned them all in early spring. That year the globosa didn't flower.

@ambiguity Patey I'm hoping it grows as fast as my other buddleia

I have one that’s grown into a tree. I trim it annually but it comes back better each time. Great for the wildlife too.

No such thing as a weed ;) chemical companies literally invented that word js. A weed is a plant just like all the others, if you like it plant it!

I love it, if you keep it in control, as when my parents moved into their house it was invading a beautiful gum tree and slowly killing it

Yes I do & it is in the wild flower, butterfly  & bee  part of my garden. It can grow as large as it wants to encourage them into my garden.

They're all originally from cultivated plants brought over from China. The plants growing in the wild shouldn't be called weeds, they just escaped the confines of of our gardens. They're just free living plants, sounds better than weeds.

Couldn’t live without mine. Brings me so much pleasure watching the birds on the feeders on it and end of summer they eat the seeds. The amount of butterflies and bees it attracts is wonderful. Everyone should have at least one

I hate it when the flowers turn brown.
by (2.5k points)
When you dead head the flowers as they fade, it encourages the 2 shoots either side, they'll just be a bit smaller.
by (2.1k points)
@endrin I remove some and leave some for the birds.

A weed is a plant that is growing in the wrong place!. as long as you enjoy the Buddleia wheres the harm. just deadhead as the flowers turn and that will encourage more flowers to grow.
