As simple as that. When th flowers start to die, remove them so they don't put their energy into producing seeds. Leave foliage to die back naturally (about 6 weeks) that feeds the bulbs for next years flowers.

They will if you let the foliage die down for a few weeks after the flowers finish even though it may look untidy

Yes! Cut the flowers if you want but let the leaves die back themselves. That way they feed the bulbs ready for the following year.

Always dead head them or they go blind and don't flower again

@christi2 that's exactly my theory/mantra. You see many many things growing without any intervention and they seem to do ok so I kind of just leave my stuff to do its thing

I've been in my house 6 year and the old tenants must have planted some as every year they grow. I havent had to do anything to help them along. They just seem to pop up.

Now my opinion is they look good for a week or three and then look scraggly for 2 months and so I plant them in pots. You enjoy the display and then put them out of sight. Works a treat

I tie the leaves together to tidy them up  takes a while but looks better than the beginning spread over the garden
