Hi everyone :) So I have a basic question! We have a Google ads account where we are running YouTube cold ads campaign and YouTube retargeting ads campaign in the same account. How can we verify that a purchase came from retargeting ads and not from cold ads campaign? Like some one might have opted in via cold ads but didn't got converted but then they saw retargeting ad and then got converted. In this case, is it possible to have two ad accounts within one Google ad account, one for cold and one for retargeting campaign like we have different and multiple ad accounts inside a BM for Facebook ads? Or we need to have two different Google ad accounts with two different email ID? Thanks!

Create two different campaigns and seperate urls by using utm parameters. Ask your landing page developer to record utm parameter while recording form submissions.

This can be done within one account only. I would suggest you to create two different campaigns and setup two conversion code (you can name them like cold ads & remarketing ads) and use them for individual campaigns to track your conversions.

@concord Hey, Thanks! Could you please elaborate on what you said about having two different codes? We don't want to add too many codes on funnel as it really slows down the loading speed.

I’m asking you to setup two different conversions codes in your account. Since all of your pages must be having Gtag, you just need to add that conversions code script of 2-3 lines. It won’t affect loading time. Alternatively, you can do that via Google Tag Manager

Just make sure your GAds conversion tag has the attribution model set to linear or time decay. Google will then give partial credit to every touch point. Assuming those touch points fall in the look back window.

No need to have two ads account miss. Use the same conversion for what you are using but after getting conversion. follow these steps: 1. Go to analytics > Audience > User Explorer 2. select client id with transactions 3. check source / medium how you will differ is use different utm parameters in cold ads vs retargeting ads. cuz from that only you will see whether he/she interacted when with your cold ad and when from retargeting.

Why not just create a retargeting campaign that only shows up for customers who saw or clicked on the first ad? Then in GA if there is a conversion made and the Source/Medium is the retargetting ad then you know that they saw the 1st and 2nd ad and then converted.
