Uhh.  do Google Ads Reps actually use information on client accounts that normal users can't get?Uhh. do Google Ads Reps actually use information on client accounts that normal users can't get? I got contacted by a Google Ads Rep who mentioned if we use his help for search ads then he can use information Google has that I don't have access to (hence my lack of previous success in this area). He talks about making up a similar audience. Am I wasting my time or might he genuinely use information I can't get while building the ads?

In a decade I have ONLY ever heard negative reviews of google ads reps.

@autolysis that's how life works. People will always find time to complain but never to compliment anything. And this is with life in general.

@species google ads reps are a danger to small business owners as evidenced to me in over a DECADE of teaching over 7, 000 entrepreneurs marketing - I say this out of KINDNESS so hard working entrepreneurs don't waste their time - don't shoot the messenger please :) all the best

Its not the point - they actually RUIN client campaigns - I have seen this again and again. over and out. and all the best - they are SALESPEOPLE who want you to spend more and have limited technical experience.

I have only dealt with maybe 2-3 good reps. And those reps are all USA based in Ann Harbor, MI. I only speak to them on my MCCs that spend 7+ figures too. The overseas guys just all push the typical BS. "Do auto bidding" "Spend more" that stuff. It drives me nuts. My phone literally says "Spam Likely" when Google Ads calls me now because they call 5+ times/day and I never answer.

I worked in the Ann Arbor office. and I would whole heartedly agree with this statement.

We had access to some cool tools. If they are overseas I don't even waste my time chatting with them. If they are state side I will at least listen to their pitch. They might have something valuable to add.

@matthus This exactly. Don't listen to the guys from the Indian call centers. They're basically sales people. For you, the guys in Barcelona may be similar to the Ann Harbor MI team in the USA.

Never heard of google reps making use of data that advertisers can't get access to. to make similar audience? May-be he's going to help you select different 'in-market' and affinity audiences and combine them to make up a new custom audience ‍♂️ Just a word of warning for everyone: Apparently these agents have checklists and they get points based on what they accomplish on the checklists. Like getting the advertiser to increase budget is x points. Getting them to create dynamic/responsive ads or new smart campaigns is y points. Heard this from a mate who used to work at an agency contracted by Google to reach out to small businesses on behalf of Google.

They cold call all the time. The best you can expect is vertical trend reports. They aren't helpful at all.

@carroll8131 Yes they use Google email. Google hires agencies which in turn hire 'account managers' to do this sort of cold outreach. It's basically google outsourcing their sales team.

I’ve had this before. The data they gave me was total junk. It’s just a ploy to get their foot in door.

My agency works with just a few good niches we know very well. I can tell you based on the past 5 years in these niches that Google reps don't have close to the data we've meticulously collected from each one. Nor do they have the knowledge or experience we do in these areas to make the correct decisions to add growth to those campaigns based on our goals and conversations. Key take way with all that I've just vomited out is, collect and maintain your own data with the experience you've gain to make more informed decisions to find better growth levers in you camps.

I've had nothing but bad advice from Google reps. I get cold called by them at least monthly.

I used to be a Google rep and used those tools to help my customers. It depends on the person. Definitely get agency help and still leverage the info Google offers you.
