Hey guys.  Hope you are all doing well.Hey guys. Hope you are all doing well. I was wondering what Google does to prevent malicious clicks from competitors to drain your budget? Does Google prevent that is some way or do I have to take some sort of actions?

Yes, the systems detects such clicks and you won't be charged:

Further, if you know their IP address(es) you can also exclude them from your campaigns:

Yes, any invalid interaction credits you've received will be labeled "Invalid activity" on the transaction history page and will be credited to you.

So Google refunds your clicks at billing cycle but doesn't stop them in the first place. So they can essentially stop your ads from rotating . I used to get hit late morning until my ad spend was drained for the day. My ads would no longer show. While Google wouldn't charge me for the fraudulent clicks or at least a part of them. It would result in lost sales and revenue for the remainder of the day a lot more than the cost of the clicks themselves. I now use a third party system online to monitor and control this for me which saves me a lot more than it costs and keeps the revenue

Posts about this are pretty frequent and there's usually quite a lot of misinformation on all sides. Do Google monitor for and detect click fraud/invalid activity? Yes, they do - but at quite a basic level. As others have said, the best way to stop it is using a third party/independent platform to verify your click data and block click fraud at source. There's quite a few out there that all work in different ways. I'd definitely avoid the more basic ones you come across as you'll just result in blocking a lot of legitimate traffic and tanking your conversion rate. I'm one of the founders at  - we give a 30 day trial so you can actually see if you are being impacted by click fraud or not. The good news is, not everyone is! It really depends on your market & your competition, but running a test and seeing what the numbers say is always a good starting point.
