I've never worked with a lawyer before. Keyword is "elder law attorney". Right now I have elder law as required keyword and attorney as broad, so +elder +law attorney. I have attorney, lawyer, and law firm as broad matches (like +elder +law attorney, +elder +law attorney). Will Google butcher those keywords (attorney / lawyer) if I have them as broad match? Should I make them required in the keywords like +elder +law +attorney?  
I've never worked with a lawyer before.

Correct +elder +law +attorney. I would also include variations of this using phrase match for example “elder attorneys near me” and “elder law firm” and “elder law firm reviews” etc etc. additionally I would add the name of the law firm as exact match for example [mason law firm]

Always use + before keywords in this case
