How do you guys determine when to turn off a keyword, that is bringing traffic but no conversions? Could it be a case of traffic quality or does it just take time? Thnx

Check the search terms that are triggering the KW. Do they make sense for the landing page. Is the intent relative to the conversion you're looking for

Test Test and More Test. Think outside the box. You might need to consider changing age, gender, gender, gender, and location. Can I ask what the keyword?

What attributiol model are you using? Its not about the last click anymore.

@chadwick what should i use so?
by (730 points)
@electricity on your conversion settings, change it to “Linear” and collect some data. After that, you can see what keywords contribute to a conversion
by (230 points)
@chadwick i usually use Position Based if "Date Driven" so not available I think the 1st and last KWs that are the most important 1st: that's how he got to know your product/service last: that's where the conversion happened
by (1.2k points)
@lancaster85915 but how do i set it to First Click And Last Click so? My keywords are kind if long, eg: French Press On Sale. i get alot of clicks, i cant do Data Driven yet, account is brand new
by (1.2k points)
Right now i set as Linear.
by (230 points)
"Position Based" gives 40% of the credit to 1st and last KWs each and splits the 20% or every KWs in between The conversion credit is given to entire KWs that are leading to the conversation, length of the KWs doesn't matter If your kw "French Press on Sale" was the last kw where the conversion happened, it'll get 40% of the attribute

@lancaster85915 so you suggest i use position based? Untill i can use Data Driven?
by (230 points)
That's my personal recommendation yes make sure your conversion is accurate and your keywords quality scores are good. Those all are taken into consideration to collect data

@lancaster85915 appreciate that. Last Q, should i set conversion window to 30, 60 or 90 days? In your personal recomendation
by (230 points)
@chadwick depends on the business, unless it's a taxi driver type of business i usually go with the Max 90 days

@lancaster85915 ecommerce?
by (230 points)
90 gives more time to record the conversion. Check out the time lag report in your attribution reports to see how long people take after an interaction to convert, you'll get a better idea

@lancaster85915 thanks for your input

I would look at your top and abs top IS% for that keyword. Is that keyword landing lower than the converting keywords? If so, take the appropriate steps to increase your positioning.

Instead of pause. Reduce bid and see on your brand term you are losing conversion or not. You will get an idea but it's not that easy. Sometime some other kws dependent upon other kws

Don't pay for "research". Pay for specifics. Those people want to buy
by (1.4k points)
This is great advice when selling too. people love when you deliver specific strategies that fit them, etc. to them
by (320 points)
@sebi7919 true. I sell structures. I never show up for general keywords.
by (2.8k points)
@vanguard interesring. say for example you were selling. stoves. would you never bid on "high end stove" and only bid on "kenmore k series stove deals"? is that what you mean?
by (320 points)
@richmond9 How many people search for "high end stove"? I search stove, or best stoves, then I compare each brand until I know which stove I want, then I search for "kenmore K series Stove". Not deals. I am looking for the best price, not crap ads for "deals". This is how I picked my dishwasher. You want to pay for very specific searches. And you don't have to go out and add all of of these words to your keyword list. I go in weekly and add negative keywords only. It's faster than trying to come up with the variations of my product names.
by (320 points)
I now have 6962 negative keywords. But there is no way I am paying for "[youtube how to build a grill pit]" That guy is looking for a video, not my fireplaces!

Always ask yourself what people are searching for when they type in a kw. Make sure your landing page provides information and your solution for that kw.
