I am nervous to ask a question. I have read everything a new member is advised to read. I did IP for about 6 months last year but budget reasons made me walk away from it. I would love to do it again. Where do you find a list of alternative products on here? Just search for the products you liked of IP and see what others are talking about? Looking for alternatives to maple oatmeal, dorados and the IP wafers. ProtiDiet & Quest seem to be the brands to buy. Any help would be appreciated.
I am nervous to ask a question.

Don’t be nervous there is a lot to this diet. There is a document under files you can find where to buy things from I use Nashua nutrition. They break it down by restricted and unrestricted

I like the Proti Diet oatmeal & Quest chips.

I second the proti-diet oatmeal and it's delicious if you use a cup of grated chayote in it and a lot more filling!

There is a nutritional guidelines for selecting packets with the files. Very helpful. We tend to buy Quest Chips, Quest bars, simply protein shakes, muscle milk shakes, pure protein bars, and built bars (these bars have quality control issues so be prepared). You can also use eggs for a packet to help keep costs down. Note not everything from these companies meet protocol.

@armchair quality control issues? I just ordered an assorted box from Nashua. are there “ things” in them?
by (400 points)
Built bar issues They range in size from 30 to 76 grams. They should weigh 53. So always weigh them. Also keep in fridge or freezer to prevent mold as they have no preservatives. I keep half in freezer and half in fridge because they get different textures but both very tasty. Even with these issues I buy a box occasionally as a treat, but I don't want others not to be fully aware when spending that $ on bars.

@armchair what products are you putting in fridge ?
by (400 points)
Built bars.
by (310 points)
@armchair the only Built Bars that meet any protocol are the 110 calories bars. They are unrestricted. If you explore any of the Nut-based bars, they don’t fit at all.

I noted clearly above that not every product from my company recommendations fit. I run calculations on everything I eat and recheck them when I get new boxes. It's insane how many of you want to call people out and not actually read what's been written. This page should be a resource not a place to attack someone for trying to help someone else.

My favorite built bars are salted caramel, banana, strawberry, coconut, and mint brownie delight (all non nut).

Nashua Nutrition has a section for all IPA nonrestrictive foods. Today they’re running a 15% off sale code President. Plus free shipping for spending $69.

There is not a list of alternative products. The documents you were asked to read contain a very specific chart on what to look for on a nutritional label. Not all quest bars fit. Not everything from Protidiet fits.

I buy Quest protein powder ( for bread, muffins, pancakes, etc. ) and Quest protein chips from Popeye's supplements. I also buy the Oatmega bars from Sobeys. One of these with my morning coffee is breakfast everyday. Right now there is a sale on the Oatmega bars at Sobeys. Buy 3 for $5. 00. Ends Wednesday. That is only $1. 66 each. Cheap breakfast. FYI. Oatmega bars at Restricted, so only ONE per day. They are so good and are very filling.

I have read that certain IP official products are sold in Nashua under a different label. Of course nobody has officially confirmed.
The Ideal Protein Alternatives Group is where you can always find questions, answers, advice, reviews & recommendations from other community members about cheaper and better food alternatives for the Ideal Protein Protocol.
