The Chicago Tribune bought the Naperville Sun & turned it into a shell of its former self, but it’s STILL our City’s newspaper, with local ads & columns & news tucked amongst the majority Tribune-supplied content. But if Alden Capital gets the majority ownership of the Tribune, the TRIBUNE itself will be further stripped of content & I doubt the Sun will even survive. Is there anyone in Naperville who can find a big enough group of journalism-minded rich people to buy the Chicago Tribune & save both it & the Naperville Sun?

Consider supporting The Tribune by subscribing. If you don't want all that paper, subscribe to the digital edition.

Haven’t bought the Sun in 40 years. Daily Herald in now the best local newspaper in my opinion. Trib got way too expensive.

I subscribe to the digital Tribune. It's expensive though and I cringe just thinking about it.

@protolanguage9 that makes me feel better. (I meant that sarcastically but I suppose it's true. ) That's why I haven't cancelled honestly. I don't think it's fair for people to read stuff (journalism) without paying for it.

(My comma is broken. It's irritating. That's why I didn't punctuate very well in my above comment. But on the positive side - my keyboard is failing but the PC itself is doing okay! )

@protolanguage9 yes I agree! I put up with intermittent performance of the keyboard but the dead comma is a deal-breaker! Lol

To subscribe to the Trib online, ask for the 99¢ a week intro rate, billed monthly. And any time they try to raise your rate, say you'll cancel if they don't renew at 99¢.

Are you still renewing at 99cents? Interesting.
