Try Hometown Furniture in Plainfield. They're still open, delivering, and posting heavily reduced furniture deals about once a week on their Facebook page. Family run and very fair pricing.

@tailrace9407 thank you so much! I’ll check it out!

@laud905 No problem! We've bought a lot of furniture from them through the years. If you find something you like at Ashley Furniture or La-Z-Boy, you can order from Hometown and they'll give you a much better price.

We just moved last week and have ordered a few things from ashley furniture (very quick delivery for us). And just ordered a sectional from Hometown Furniture today! They were very easy to work with. Really good price on what we needed.

Honestly. Just buy blue painters tape and measure out what you want and where you want it. Then go on wayfair, Serena and Lilly, and ikea and add to your cart. Using painters tape and visualizing dimensions in real life will give you that perspective

I would never ever buy a couch without sitting in it for the record. I’m a lazy boy Lover. I won’t ever not buy the brand lazy boy for couches. So cozy and with a house full of men, I think I chose correct

@mauro169 painters tape is going to be a great idea! We’re both on a tight budget. I saw some on Costco but I don’t know the quality
by (24k points)
@laud905 the best thing about Costco. if you don’t like it, return for a full refund! Even 2 yrs later. but I have heard their furniture is great!

Furniture stores aren’t essential businesses under the governor’s order so you’re going to have to try curbside pickup or delivery. Same for thrift stores (my favorite )
by (310 points)
@way14587 Ca my favorite to! Haven’t seen one at all open! I think market place is going to be it with curbside pick up

@mestee could you send me a picture? I gotta check with my significant other to ensure we could get in the apartment
by (12.3k points)
@mestee next if they pass please
by (340 points)
@laud905 yup I can get you a picture tomorrow and measurements! It’s a L shaped sectional but it comes apart, we had it in our one bedroom apartment.
by (340 points)
@multifoliate no problem, I’ll keep you updated!

Watch FB market place, I’ve bought and sold SO much. This time of year because people are usually moving it’s awesome! Buy nothing new, it’s so overpriced and if you’re moving around it’s going to get beat up anyways. Invest in a nice rug and furniture cleaner and buy second hand (and put your savings away in the bank).

If you aren’t picky, try dollar stores for things. We got mugs, plates, bowls, and kitchen tools there!

I'm not a thrift store, but I'm doing the opposite, we're selling our house and moving in with my brother temporarily and getting rid of a lot of stuff. I have a love seat, a couch, a chair, futon, and some other things I'm getting rid of

And MOST of my kitchen supplies!

Is there anything specific you’re looking for?
by (310 points)
@valero0 yes! Bigger items are forsure something we don’t have tv stand, night stands, dressers, kitchen table. We really only have a bed and desk at this point

We’d like to replace our sliding glass door with French doors. The space for a door to open is tight, but we don’t need both doors to open. What are some options for that?
