My only brother is turning 30 next week and lives in L. A., far from all his family and friends. He's been social distancing alone in his room, even from his roommates because they aren't taking it seriously. How on earth do I make this birthday special when he has to celebrate the big 30 alone? Wondering if anyone has ideas.

Have a zoom surprise party? Tell him it’s just you and him and secretly invite any friends and family?

My moms 60th is May 7. So if things aren’t safe this is our Plan B. Probably send her dinner from her favorite restaurant.

We baked a cake and put my daughter's name on it and called her through video chat. My mom and my brother participated too and we sang happy birthday and ate cake. My son played happy birthday on the trombone for her. She is in Germany

Go to Cirque du Soleil (free on YouTube) together while on a video call. Get “matching” cakes so that you can pretend you’re eating it together. Decorate your house, or atleast the bit visible in the video call.

When my brother turned 30, I sent a box of 30 of his favorite things individually wrapped!  there was also a list where he could write them down like a scavenger hunt to remember  it was before social distancing and he opened it on facetime and our family got to share stories and memories about the individual items

This is what we are doing for an aunt who turns 60 this month and same thing for my husband who is turning 40. I had this huge party set up pre-COVID-19 out in California and now that’s canceled. Have all your family members make a quick 10-15 second video and compile all together and make a movie out of it for him and send it to him. then surprise him with a “zoom” invite with everyone online. sing happy bday . people can still send him gifts too!

My birthday was yesterday and my sister in Brooklyn sent me a cake from a local bakery here. It was unexpected and a really nice surprise!
