People making masks with ties: how long should they be? I'm out of elastic and stumped.

End with MINIMUM of 36in, 38 to 40 preferred (40 natural length of the fabric too)

@cottontail one sewn on each side. End to end, each of the 2 ties, are individually 40 I fold over and sew a bit to avoid freying, so they are finished like 39. 5.

Can sew on mask top/bottom or sides. Some say sides is a tighter seal, some prefer top/bottom. Up to u

@michaeline24 the other thing I'm struggling with is what the finished dimensions should be. I'm winging it when I add the pleats. Any tips?

@cottontail mine start 9 x 6. Some make 10 x 6 or even 10 x 7. I tested that and thought it was simply to much fabric. That's just me. Mine finished are about 3 in. (If top/bottom ties) but you can see in m pic, they open wider when worn

I iron my pleats in, hold with binder clip or pin and sew. I also assembly line them step by step. I think cutting a bunch, sewing a bunch, cutting a bunch of ties, etc is faster then doing an entire mask, then another entire mask. Does that make sense?

I'm doing 15 inches for each strap, enough for them to double knot it
