Question

Has anyone ordered takeout from Uncle Julio’s since the pandemic started? We have a gift card and are thinking of using it tomorrow. We tried to order online a couple of weeks ago and they said they couldn’t process gift cards online, that we’d have to come in and physically present the card to them. So I’m not sure if they have their act together. I’m looking for any tips since we want to plan ahead, it being Mother’s Day tomorrow. Thanks!

Not sure what you mean by “Have their act together. ” Most restaurants have had to completely restructure their business and give their employees a new job description on the fly, all while there’s a pandemic going on. If it’s not standard for them to take gift card payments online, that’s probably the least of their concern at this time.

@provender953 I am totally sympathetic to that - I used to be a server myself. The thing is, I tried multiple times to use the gift card online (it was an option), but it didn’t work. And when we called they said they couldn’t take the number over the phone either, that we’d have to present the card in person. So I was curious what other people’s experience was with them.

I would personally avoid them on a holiday. Cinco de Mayo was horrible. I placed an order for 715 got there at 730, they were only on orders from 6pm! We ended up canceling. I'd save your card and do it on a non-holiday.

Just coming back to this to say. I don't blame the restaurant completely & am not mad about it at all -- we're all at home & having the same thought. They just couldn't handle the volume so I'd wait for a normal day.

We ordered for picked up this past Friday. I ordered online and set the pickup time to 4:30. The food was in my car at 4:33 and I was on my way. My order was correct and the food was delicious. With it being Mother’s Day it will probably be busier so maybe try and odd middle of the day pick up time and hope for the best.

We ended up ordering online and were actually able to use our gift card this time. My husband picked up our food at lunchtime and didn’t have to wait at all. It was amazing and we have leftovers too! :)
