We r hosting a virtual trivia night with friends. Does anyone know a good way to do this? Our plan is pretty low tech at the moment but I feel like someone must have developed a platform for this. Not looking to purchase anything though. We will be using zoom.

Try Jackbox. Teams go to the website on their phone and enter a code. The host shares his/her screen via Zoom and players enter answers on their phone. Participants need to be logged into Zoom on one device, usually a computer, and use their phone to answer the questions. I think the max teams you can have is 8. We did this last weekend and it was super fun. The first game was a little rough as people had to get used to the technology.

@official616 just looked into Jackbox- never used it before. Do all the participants need to purchase the steam code?

@stop11 no. We bought Jackbox for the computer and then shared the screen. The program generates a code and then participants go to Jackbox. tv and enter code and name and they are in the game. Only one person has to purchase anything.

Check out Go 4 It Entertainment. Local guy. He’s doing live trivia a couple nights a week but if the times don’t work for you you can always play one of the “live” ones later. That’s what my friends and I do!

We used king trivia and did it on a zoom call and I just screen shared their live stream. It’s free but they do ask for donations. They have different theme nights and they just did a Disney one on Monday. Not sure when the next one is.

Are you writing your own questions? We do virtual trivia every Wednesday night through WhatsApp. 3 rounds of 5 questions, plus one bonus as the end. The host sends each round’s questions to the group, and we send a private WhatsApp message to the host with our answers. We have 10 minutes per round. It’s an honor system to not cheat. It works well!

Note that the free version of zoom will cut the meeting off at 40 minutes. See if one of your guests has a pro version to "host" the mtg and it can have an unlimited time length
