Pataday is now OTC. It was by prescription only until recently. Good stuff
by (17k points)
@paduasoy25714 tried it - very strange but I felt like I couldn’t breath after taking it - twice - different days - I had high hopes for it but don’t want to chance it
by (2.7k points)
@loathing darn! Sorry it didn’t help
by (830 points)
Thanks for the tip! My eyes have never been as bad as this year. I'm going to pick some up tomorrow to try!

I'd actually see your ophthalmologist. They have eye drops with steroids in the mix that is sooo helpful. Or try n antihistamine
by (17k points)
@sullivan96 I would but they are not open - maybe I’ll call and they can do a video call
by (20.4k points)
@loathing yes, do a telehealth call. Your dr will be able to diagnose it and prescribe o be they see you on a video call. Feel better! I know how painful that can be.
by (600 points)
@loathing I saw two ophthalmologist in the past week due to needing a steroid eye drops.
by (990 points)
@loathing I am an optometrist and our office is open for all eye care needs. I live in Naperville and my office is in Downers Grove Spex Expressions. Send me a message and I could do a telehealth exam over the phone or see you in person, whichever you feel more comfortable doing.

Xyzal is the only thing that helps my allergies and doesn’t kill my energy levels.
by (3.3k points)
@wraparound86 this!
by (5.2k points)
@wraparound86 SAME!
by (5.2k points)
Same for me. I used to take Zyrtec and Claritin and still wanted to claw my eyes out. Xyzal made a HUGE difference
by (5.2k points)
I don't know if it's everywhere yet, but Mariano's carries a generic now, too
by (4.1k points)
Me too! And Zyrtec made me an evil demon. My husband and kids always knew when it was 5 hours after I took Zyrtec .

Oh my gosh! I am struggling! I haven’t worn contacts in 3 weeks! My eyes are itchy, swollen and red. especially the corners of my eye
by (17k points)
@izzy8463 yes! It’s killing me - and with this whole don’t touch your face thing
by (1.9k points)
@loathing no such thing! Let me know what you find that works! I’ve tried every “allergy” eye drop out there, saline nose sprays, rinsing out my eyes. it’s all temporary until the next flare up.
by (17k points)
@izzy8463 will do !
by (400 points)
@izzy8463 my oldest had the same issues. He's on singulair, Flonase now. Use to need eye drops as needed. But I started him a couple years ago on localized honey. He takes a spoonful everyday, starting in March till pretty much early summer. It's improved things like a miracle. He still sneezes frequent. But the eye flare ups have only been a few times since.
by (1.1k points)
@izzy8463 yes, I want to rip mine out!
by (400 points)
The place I get our honey from is @oran80397 Farms. I've used the same place for honey since I started. They are around 87th st and Washington. So as close as I could get to our house.
by (1.9k points)
@porshaport ❤️ the Flonase hadn’t helped, I’ve been taking Apple cider Vinegar, Manuka honey in the morning along with tumeric pill! It definitely helps for a short period. You are a smart mommy! I will definitely set my alarm for next year to start early intervention. I always forget how bad I feel until I am in it! Xo
by (400 points)
@izzy8463 something I've learned over the years. Hayden always started effects at the same time. My husband recommended trying localized honey, he heard it helped. Before the honey I was on the verge of having Hayden see an allergist. Hayden has also gotten very good at learning if he touches his eyes even a little, they swell & flare up right away. Idk if it's just a miracle, but the honey has worked like a miracle!
by (1.9k points)
@porshaport I am on it! Thanks

At CVS or wal greens. They sell allergy eye drops that relieve allergy symptoms from eyes. They are. Life saver during the spring for me. We all woke up with puffy eyes this am from the allergens.

If I hadn’t had that feeling of not being able to get a full breath in in the past because of allergies , I’d be freaking out about The Rona! But, I have had that, and that feeling has been my biggest allergy issue this year so far. The other day I felt the terrible itchy eyes, but that breathing thing is really bothering me. Today was good, but Monday was horrible. Just thought I’d throw that out to see if anyone else is experiencing this.

Mine are terrible but I hate taking medication so I’ve just been wearing my glasses and no makeup (obvi in quarantine ). Using hydrating eye drops and cleaning the oil from around my eye area a few times a day. Debating trying some form of allergy meds though.

Yes, one of my kids does and it has been terrible this season! The only thing that has really helped him are Zaditor eye drops that I researched and tried after his normal Children's Claritan wasn't helping his eyes enough.
by (1.1k points)
@abattoir do you need a prescription for those Zaditor eye drops. I have been using Pataday eye drops and they’re not working. This allergy season is horrible
by (16.3k points)
@grattan no, they are over the counter and I got them at meijer!
