Pneumonia in toddlers: how long does it take for the coughing to go away? Our two year old was diagnosed a week and a half ago, after having RSV the week prior. He was back at daycare this week fever free, happy and energetic, finished his antibiotics yesterday, but the cough is hanging on still. Seems worse in the morning and evening and minimal during daytime hours.

Go back to your pediatrician. prob needs a chest xray and a different antibiotic. If cough is the same you can give it another few days but if cough is worsening then go back to Dr. Good luck and healing prayers to your little person! ♥️

His last chest x ray was clear and he was switched from one abx to the other. I wouldn’t say the cough is worsening thankfully. Definitely following up with his ped tomorrow though to check in.

They heard crackling with the stethoscope but the xray was clear, plus with the previous RSV, so they weren’t sure if it was actually bacterial or viral pneumonia.

Our ped said sicknesses like that can take 4-6 weeks to fully go away! Hang in there!

Hard to kick. Sometimes a few rounds of antibiotics

I had to have a 10 day prescription and last time 3 antibiotics. But it can take up to 3 weeks

Our 4 year old had pneumonia this year and our ped said the cough may linger for a month or 2

It could take a while but I would go back and make sure the antibiotics completely kicked it.

You could also listen to your doctor and integrate chest percussions in the front and back to his chest to help break up the mucous. You can watch a video of application of cupping your hand over chest with repetitive tapping for a period of 3-5 minutes or as long as your little one will allow you to do it
