@ethiopic thanks for sharing. I’ll have to look into this!
by (1.8k points)
@ethiopic, was coming here to say this! I'm with Hubby on it being a no-no. They're very unsafe for sleep. I would invest in a good bassinet or a pack and play with bassinet setting:)
by (1.2k points)
@ethiopic agree! Please please please follow safe sleep recommendations. You can look to the AAP for these and to find recommendations on safe sleep tools such as swaddles. I would never use something like this for sleeping. Follow taking cara babies on Facebook or Instagram for sleep tips that follow the AAP guidelines for safe sleeping. You can have good sleep without the use of unsafe products. Definitely not a necessity.

I got one and never used it. For all our kids we just did a bassinet next to the bed

I love mine. Still using it and my son is 1
by (4.5k points)
@veta498 thanks! Trying to convince my husband it’s worth the $. ☺️Why do you love it? Do you use it solely at bedtime?
by (1.6k points)
@sethsethi yes and when we have traveled when he was young so we didn’t have to use pack and play. I bought mine used so I didn’t spend that much on it.

You can bring baby anywhere with you! We used ours daily until we got our SNOO and then took it traveling with us. So worth all the pennies!
by (4.5k points)
@tabby did you put baby in bed with you and husband? We have a king bed but also both move a lot. Lol. Worried we would roll over on her. My husband does leave at 4a everyday so thinking at least that point she could come in bed with me and make nursing easier.
by (1.7k points)
@sethsethi so we decided that we were okay putting the dockatot in the pack n play next to our bed (I believe it might be “against” the safety warning on the labels) as we didn’t co-sleep because I was too nervous about rolling on her. they’re just so small! But it was great for us. She slept so well in it and if i went downstairs or anywhere really I could pick up the whole thing take it with me and set her/ the dockatot next to me on the couch or wherever I landed.
by (1.7k points)
@sethsethi I will also say it is like any other baby product. There are always risks; there are always warnings. You have to use responsibly and Supervise. As soon as baby started to roll that was the end of it for us. I saw people posted some articles and it is super important to inform yourself before deciding what will work for your family!

We used it in our king bed ‍♀️‍♀️ it was a life saver! TJmaxx has one on sale online right now!
by (4.5k points)
@idzik228 were you ever worried about rolling over on baby? Did baby sleep in the middle?
by (4.5k points)
@idzik228 I tried searching TJmaxx but it didn’t come up. If you come by that again definitely PM me please!
by (1.4k points)
@sethsethi PM you! We were worried at first (and prolonged doing for it the first 6 weeks) then realized we were never even close to him. That was the only way we could get him to sleep for the first 3 months!

@idzik228 thank you!

We used ours during the day when he napped when he was little. It was awesome when they sleep a lot!

Loved ours! It was the only place our daughter would sleep that wasn’t in our arms for a first few months. I got mine on their website on clearance — you can also check tj maxx or Nordstrom racks websites for cheaper prices.

@simpson6565 same! Total lifesaver for baby one and just washed it up for baby two who is coming in a few months!

I had a bassinet that we used. My personal opinion is not. That’s a lot of money to spend on something by you may not use. I could see the portable benefits of it but we are in the middle of a pandemic so where would you really be going? My experience with four kids, anytime we went somewhere we had a car seat or someone was holding the baby anyways or we brought a pack n play with a built in bassinet for longer trips.

I have a look a like (cheaper), and I like it. First baby never slept in the bassinet and wants to be snuggled so I figured this may help with second baby. And it have to say it does. She doesn't sleep in it 100% of the time but definitely more than the first baby. And you can move it and put the baby down or nap wherever you are

It is cute! Great for pictures. Pratical and a must have ehhhhh. Its to prevent rolling, which babies dont do. And if you do, you dont want baby in it because then baby will be smushed up against bumper and could have limited air space. I do think they resale well! I think they only practical time to use it is on bed to cosleep. If you are planning on doing that, then maybe. but there are other products.

@interlocutory my 4yo rolled over to her tummy the night we brought her home from the hospital. Would only sleep on her tummy ‍♀️

We got one as a gift for our third who is currently 7 months. I only used it during the day for naps because we have a video monitor, but it was fantastic for that. My two older kids always jolted awake when being laid down in the crib or bassinet for naps. When I put our youngest in the doc a tot, he ACTUALLY stayed asleep and slept for a couple hours at a time. It was amazing. I also discontinued use when he began rolling to his tummy to sleep. We bedshare at night so I never used it at night. That being said, I wouldn’t have bought it if it wasn’t a gift because of how expensive they are and the short amount of time we used it for. But I guess that’s the case with a lot of baby stuff! I’d look second hand.

Current sleeping arrangement. Went from sleeping an hour and a half to 3+ hours at a time like this because he startles himself awake. I just bought our second one to keep downstairs and travel with. This has saved us

@flea69679 omg . I should have tired this. I had both but baby didn't like either. But I never tried them together

Thank you all so much for the feedback!

@sethsethi so we had one and baby didn't like it, so that was that. but wanted to share something i did not know until my last baby was in a crib. the reason items like this are such a risk for asphyxiation is because babies nestle or turn to the sides and then breathe in their own exhaled. air which is higher in Carbon Dioxide and lower in Oxygen. and this is how some babies slowly asphyxiate. I wish i had known that before baby #1 cause i for sure had some times they were all snuggled in and it was a huge risk. Whatever you decide, good luck!

We didn’t have one for my first but got one for our second and I swear, I will recommend it to EVERYONE! My baby girl loves it! We had the smaller one till she was about 9 months and then upgraded to the larger one. 100% would recommend, she sleeps so much better, it almost like cuddles them. She is going to be two and loves it. My niece is three and still sleeps in one. Definitely worth it.

We had one with our baby and she loved it. I loved to use us when she was really little and still not napping in her crib yet. I would have it downstairs with me and she would nap beautifully while in it. I would leave it on the couch or I’d even put it in her pack and play. I was always close by her at that point. It was also nice to have to bring to peoples houses as well. We did end up putting it in her bassinet as well when she was super small and not rolling at all. I took it out as soon as she started rolling or even showing signs or more movement when sleeping. I’d say it’s a great investment but with any type of lounger, must be used correctly and safely.

Please do not get one, they are very dangerous. They are not marketed for sleep, even though that’s what people are using them for. Babies will roll before you are aware, which puts them at risk of asphyxiation. Look into Velcro sleep sacks and a bassinet. Gives baby a sense of closeness without the risk. Congratulations!

@vani I little louder for those in the back! This very expensive item is not a safe sleeping environment for a baby.

It was a life saver for us. We placed it in her bassinet for the first few months, and then transitioned it to the crib until we were ready to remove it. It was so easy to travel with or move out onto the couch for her to take a nap in. As mommas we are always watching our babes, especially when they are little, so you’ll know when it’s not safe for baby to use anymore (rolling over, turning, etc. ) HIGHLY recommend! Good luck with baby’s arrival!

We had the boppy newborn lounger and felt it was a great, much cheaper alternative.
by (1.1k points)
@dopp7 we LOVE our boppy lounger! Didn’t have it for the first and it was a game changer for the second!
by (3.8k points)
@dopp7 I so agree get the cheap boppy! My son liked being a little propped to see stuff! Plus they shouldn’t sleep in a doc a tot or a boppy so u will usually use it with them when up so just get the cheaper one!

Not worth it imo. It's quite pricey to only be able to use for under 3m (usually rolling after that and very unsafe). I highly recommend trying somthing safer that you can use for longer. For example a swing or bouncer.

We have the DockATot Grand and I loved it so much. For me, it was great bc I could just set the baby on the couch without worrying they’d roll off. With that said, a Pack n Play serves the same function, but it was in a different room. My kids are too big now and I still have it. It’s it wonderful condition. I could sell it to you if you’re interested.

We loved it for tummy time. I have more pics of you are interested.

Not needed and with 52 comments I bet someone has included them in the list of dangerous baby items. Mom of 5 here and beyond a crib, carrier, rocking chair, car seat, high chair, bouncer and pack n play most of the big stuff just takes up more space than they are worth. My best advice is to avoid anything that swings, vibrates, plays music and entertainment because baby will get attached to these things and traveling gets very difficult. It’s just a lot easier if it’s a human they look to for soothing instead of gadgets that break, need batteries, get forgotten or you don’t have room for on a trip.
by (720 points)
@paternal I don’t agree I have 2 babies and use swings and a mamma Roo have never had any issue with them or my babies being overly attached
by (10.6k points)
@sullen2523 Then, you do a fantastic job of switching it up so that they don’t. I use to own a daycare and babies are very often attached to such an item for soothing. You can’t imagine how many times I have had a parent insist I let them bring one of these things from home just to be used for their child.
by (720 points)
@paternal I def try my best we are a hockey family so constantly on the go . I guess no real time to get attached to anything
by (610 points)
@paternal I have to disagree, I’m also a mom of 5, had a Daycare and I found the doc a tot to be extremely useful for a few babies. I think it’s important to note that every baby is different and those vibrating battery operated gadgets can be sanity-savers sometimes ❤️
