Any idea why people are shooting off fireworks at this hour near downtown Naperville? It sounds like gunshots, my dogs are freaked out and my baby is now awake and screaming. SO inconsiderate.

We heard people last night at midnight blowing off fireworks. I don’t know why but my dog was freaking out too.

There were many central seniors taking pictures in their caps and gowns today . So maybe to celebrate them .

The issue was not knowing why gun shot sounding fireworks were occurring for over an hour. Not protesting the celebrations of 2020 seniors. Just to be clear.

Well that all makes sense. In no way would I want to discourage celebrating our seniors, many of which are friends or acquaintances of my daughter. Let me be very clear that I do not condemn the celebration of graduating seniors at all, it was simply just very shocking to hear and perhaps having some sort of warning provided to neighbors would have been considerate. Congrats to the class of 2020!

@paronychia if you live within ear-shot you will hear this every year. at North and Central. My kids used to love to see the “extra” fireworks. Now one’s in high school himself. Enjoy

There are actually always fireworks after graduation. There is a little contest every year to see which school finishes first and therefore shoots the fireworks off first. This is pretty much the only tradition this year's seniors have been allowed. Not sure why that means they are throwing tantrums or thinking COVID is inconsiderate. They are kids who are enjoying something dedicated to them, like the kids every year do. Give them a break.

To be clear, there was no graduation ceremony for our seniors. So individuals may be setting them off for small celebrations, but no big celebration. praying we will be able to have one in July as planned.

Because anyone in naperville can get a permit to shoot fireworks for any reason. Last week neighbors were shooting fireworks they said they had a birthday and permit.
