It's awesome that you're considering donating plasma to help patients fighting coronavirus! Versiti blood centers are accepting donations from people who have recovered from COVID-19. You can call the hotline at 1-866-702-HOPE (866-702-4673) or visit versiti. org/covid19plasma.

@blake402 I think you can do it at Versiti blood Centers. I Give whole blood all the time there & I think they do all the specialty stuff like plasma, platelets, double red etc

I did it in college several times. I think there is a fairly new facility in oswego where you can do it. It is really easy, it just takes longer than donating blood and you have to go back a couple days later to do it again. at least that’s how it was about 13 years ago

Theres a place in Bolingbrook called biolife plasma a friend of mines donated to and they pay $400

@steinbach18 $400 for the first donation?
by (2.9k points)
@steinbach18 no it’s not all at once. Payments are staggered throughout the month. You have to donate 2x weekly for a month to get the full amount.

@lightless I didnt know it was like that I was going by what I was told. Thanks for clearing that up.

@steinbach18 BioLife is awesome I used to donate all the time at their DeKalb Location
by (2.9k points)
@steinbach18 sure! I donated last summer with CSL plasma and learned about the process. Payment for plasma is also dependent upon the weight class you fall in. CSL has 3 different groups and people who weigh less, get less money. The more you weigh, the you make.

Just an FYI - paid donations aren't used for patient blood transfusions in the US. If you want to help patients in need, consider donating your blood to your local blood banks.

I used to donate plasma all the time. It can take a couple of hours but it’s not horrible! Just bring a book or have your phone to pass the time.

If you want to donate plasma after covid I believe they want you to wait a month before donating, dont quote me but something to look into.

I’ve had this question for a while now, but here it goes. If you get Covid 19- is the protocol to send people home and self-quarantine with NO prescribed medicine? I realize that’s it’s a virus, but still. Just wondering. So grateful for this forum. I honestly believe that if the nation wants answers on how to proceed they should ask usb.

@cavanagh36066 It depends from patient to patient because everyone reacts differently to the virus. I personally experienced very mild symptoms(low grade fever for 2 days and body aches and some sore throat) but some may have very high fever, breathing difficulties and other symptoms and depending on how bad their symptoms are s/he will have to either stay home or be admitted to hospital and there are some treatment options but each has criteria that patient has to meet and it’s up to the hospital doctor to decide how to treat the patient.

@tesstessa9 I am jealous. I want to have it and mild and get done with this. I was sick in March so recently I took an antibody test. Unfortunately came back negative. Good for your donating plasma. I was going to do the same if I had been positive.

Please do! You have such an ability to help ❤️. It's a little longer process than giving blood and a little more involved. When I did it, they would set up something for me to watch and I would be good to go.

I have been donating plasma since December. Twice a week every week. Have you had covid 19? You can donate either way. Please let me know if you have any questions. Www. Cslplasma. com

Sorry I somehow missed that you had covid19, they really need all donors, but especially post virus  donors. And you will get $100 bucks for at least the first 2 donations if not all of them. According to the staff at the CSL where me and my son donate
