Question

My husband and I are considering a cross town move. For those of you who’ve done this, how much did the movers cost and who did you use? We’re planning to pack the boxes ourselves. Thanks!

We just did that it all depends are you going to have them pack your items or you will pack yourself all depends on how long it takes them as they are per hour. I did however find a very cheap company for our move.

@aleshia we ended up gong with Chicago moving for 5 guys for $165 cost us 1200 but we packed everything they took it to the house.

We used Roy with Motion Transports out of Bolingbrook. They charge by the hour and are great with all of your furniture. I think our move was only 10 miles and it was 6 hours if I recall correctly. We've used them multiple times for different family members.

We moved with Ken at A Mills Movers. (630) 918-7854 . best experience ever. And we have moved 9 times in the past 15 years. 3 cross country.

I would spend the money on professional movers. They will quote you but if they under bid, you still pay the difference. I would budget between $2, 600-$3, 600 depending how long the move takes including lunch and travel time and tip.

@hagride it’s impossible For the that price across town yes but 2, 000 max if they are packing it if not then 1, 000. I just moved twice in one year across the same Town

@matronize0 there are many factors. It depends on how much stuff you have and how long the move takes and how many movers. Ours should have been a two day move. It was 8 am to 9:30 pm. We filled the entire semi trailer. We had 5 movers. Just providing what it cost us. They worked very fast all day/night but we had a large move. They also set up our furniture and put everything in the rooms that we specified.
