@synchronic makes sense I didn’t think about it from a dog’s perspective thank you! He is my best friend and more like a little boy then a dog bc he is so smart. That I didn’t think of it in that way. I Appreciate the info

@synchronic thank you! We need the good vibes and prayers IM sure like many it’s been a rough cold and flu season!

@san4894 I noticed anytime I would light a fragrant candle our lab, my best friend too, would leave the room. I think the plug in air fresheners bothered him also. To much for their senses. He does like the smell of bacon or chicken cooking though.

I didn't think it was recommended for under age 1

@kimberly I am cleaning her humidifier and bringing it to her room and wondered if I should set up diffuser. I don’t know what the research is on diffused oils. Are they even safe for a babies lungs? I’ll have to set up humidifier only and read more on oils.

I would not add anything without speaking with my doctor.

Too young. I’d recommend the nose frida with saline to help loosen it. Humidifier and wedge under the mattress to prop up head

Young Living Thieves oil should be safe to defuse in the house but I wouldn’t put right beside your baby. I used it with my now 6yo when he was an infant. I’m no expert just know what has worked for this mom of five.

Don't do it. Not worth the risk. Stick with a cool mist humidifier, vicks, and nose frida.

@joshia she has been seen 4 times in the last week she is my 3 child I just was looking for late info on whether or not I could diffuse a nighttime oil in her room to help with sleep or stuffed nose.

This is going to sound ridiculous but one of my old pediatrician’s nurses told me to put their head in the freezer. I thought she was nuts so I didn’t do it at first. I actually was congested and went outside in the cold and cleared right up. I felt so much better and it reminded me of what she said. The dry cold helps congestion. Bundle up the baby so they get a few minutes outside or put a hat in her & blanket and open the freezer. It really does help. Then just a plain humidifier at night.

@ashlan a quick trip outside to breath the cold air in this weather will do the same, bundled up of course.
by (3.1k points)
@almaraz38012 That is what I said.
by (750 points)
@ashlan we have had to do that with croup attacks and that definitely is a life saver  I have been holding her in warm showers then clearing out her nose and rushing her to bed while she can breathe well and using a humidifier. She is doing a lot better today thankfully. It started as the flu last Monday despite the flu shot and we were left with the crummy congestion and symptoms thankfully all on the way out

No essential oils for that age, but steam, nose frida, saline, etc. if not better, please go to the dr. There’s also an infant zarbees mucus relief you could use- it works on my 7 month old.

@goggles0 Sekyra Blake thank you we have done all in which you also recommended and of course tracking closely with dr visits most recent visits Saturday and Tuesday;)

I’ve been diffusing oils in the rooms where my son is since birth. He gets peace and calming and eucalyptus radiata every night. He’s now 14 months old. Also I have a small 5 lb dog and I diffuse all kinds of oils and she is totally healthy. In fact we had a scare with her once and oils actually took care of it. Some oils are not ok for infants and babies under 2 but that’s mostly topical. Also if you don’t have a pure oil then it’s not safe or effective. I would use eucalyptus raidiata for this
by (2.8k points)
@danit I was going to say the same thing. @san4894 do the research but eucalyptus Radiata, Not globulus would be great and kill a bunch of germs also. And you could add some colloidal silver In there also. Natural anabiotic. It has also saved our cats life. Also for now I would use humidifier and not a diffuser.

Olbas Oil - years ago you could get it from Whole Foods only, now Walgreens and other retailers like Target, Walmarts often carry it too. Don't put it in a diffuser instead put few drops on a cloth a place it near the baby.

None diffusing EO’s around a baby that young is dangerous and a lot of the ones that are supposed to make illness better increase lung issues in children. A plain humidifier would be better

No oils. I am allergic to some of them and the concentrated form makes it so much worse. Saline spray is what I always used. A few drops in each nostril 3 times a day and it clears up in a few days.
