Hi moms!  I work for a tech company in HR and we have a candidate who is considering relocating for the job.Hi moms! She has a son who will enter HS next year and I am reaching out to see if anyone has done extensive research on the best public and private high schools in the area? My son is only 18 months, so this is foreign to me  and I figured I would see if anyone has done this research and would be willing to share/give me some advice. I would say anywhere from Oak Park to Aurora area would be fair to consider along with top schools in the city. It seems deadlines are quickly approaching so I am actively compiling information for her. Many thanks in advance for your insight!

Naperville, Aurora have some of the best schools in the nation. Talk to realtors. Greatschools. org

We are so lucky that we have so many great schools in our area. You can't go wrong with any of the public schools in Naperville. they are all ranked top in the nation. I just purchased with an amazing realtor. I would be happy to give you her info.

I have lived in district 203 and 204 both districts were great. High school my son attends Metea Valley and have nothing but great experiences there so far. But I feel like all the high schools in those two districts are great.

I absolutely love district 204. Please let them know that there are only certain parts of Aurora that are in the 204 boundaries though, and they need to check with the school for boundary maps if they choose that. I have friends that are also very happy in Downers Grove if they are looking to be closer to Chicago.

Our company is not in Naperville so really looking for anything between the city and western burbs, likely not much further than Naperville but IMSA also came up in my search which is in Aurora.

Robin, IMSA is a highly competitive and difficult school to get into - unless her son is considered to be gifted he probably would not be selected to attend there. I would suggest you start with what they are looking for - strong athletics, strong math and science, strong music/theatre, etc. Public or private? There are so many great public high schools but they are larger - if they are looking for a smaller environment Benet Academy in Lisle, St. Francis in Wheaton, Marmion Academy in Aurora all come to mind. You may also want to check out the Illinois State Board of Ed. report cards for every school district and school in llinois. This will give you a snap shot of the makeup of the school, test scores, class sizes, etc.
