What is everyone’s favorite baby monitor that has a handheld monitor but also can be seen on a smartphone when not in the house? (Not the nest)

I just bought the Motorola from buy buy baby- 1 or 2 cameras & monitor, plus WiFi connection/app for your phone & I love it!

DO not get the owlet. outs is so awful; always is refreshing and spinning. I spend more time trying to get the damn thing to work then seeing my baby. they also have updates they do. well currently they haven’t updated ours and said they’d call us. no call. we’ve been without monitor for a week. huge scam, at least for us!

When I was pregnant with my 3rd we were looking for the same exact thing and never found it. For some reason none of the monitors we saw had the option to use a handheld in the house and a phone when not home. If that exists, it's difficult to find. Which was frustrating because we wanted to give my mother-in-law access to the monitor when at the house without having access to the app/our cameras all the time. We ended up settling for the nanit, which we have been really happy with. And for a while we contemplated getting a tablet specifically for seeing the monitor in the house, but we ended up not doing that and just using our phones. Now that our 4th is here, the app gives you the option to go back and forth between children which is nice. There's a lot of pretty good features, so if you're curious I'm happy to answer any questions I can.

After two different (and disappointing) video monitors we went with the Yi home camera. No traditional monitor, goes through a tablet and/or smartphone. Super reasonable price and has great video quality. Found on Amazon

@falbala30 we had a Motorola one that did this. I think it might be in Florida. We are heading there over spring break so I could bring it back for you if I still have it.

I have nest - LOvE it! We use an old iPad as our handheld monitor alongside our phones. I travel for work so iPhone is a must!

We’ve used these for years. I was so nervous leaving my kids with a sitter for the first time so I wanted a monitor that I could check from my phone while out. Both hubby and I had the apps on our phones and then the sitter would use the iPad as the monitor. We liked these too because we could talk through the camera so it helped with sleep training. We had a Lorex baby monitor that has a hand held and an app that you can see on your smartphone. I searched a long time for that feature.

Well we have Motorola now and it does it! But it keeps loosing connection!

Motorola will accomplish that . has about a 3 year life span though. Quite costly. I’m sure there might be other better options

Don't buy Infant Optics. Our handheld lasted maybe 6 months before it wouldn't last off the charger. Ended up changing to the Nest.

@parkerparkhurst I was able to buy a replacement battery for ours, and it’s been good for the 3 years since. However, I am now careful not to overcharge it now.
